FLEMMING WINS SECOND IWK 250 PRESENTED AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY

(Antigonish, NS. July 19, 2014) – John Flemming (Halifax, NS) captured the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body at Riverside International Speedway by besting Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) on a restart with three laps remaining in the race. It is Flemming’s second IWK 250 win. Chisholm, who dominated and led 218 laps of the event, had to settle for the runner -up spot for the second consecutive season in the biggest race of the year at his home track. Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) edged out Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) for third with veteran George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS) rounding out the top five.

Flemming, in the #97 Happy Harry’s Affordable Building Center Dodge Charger, started off his day by winning a Dartmouth Dodge Heat Race. Chisholm and Koszkulics also picked up heat race qualifier victories. Reigning NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton (Tulare, CA) paced the field in both the King Freight Dash and the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials, putting up a 14.197 second lap in qualifying. Brad Mann (Glen Levit, NB), in his final Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour start of his 30 year career, took home the Exide Batteries Hard Charger, picking up 12 positions in the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body to finish 14th in the 29 car field.

Canadian speedster, Alex Labbe scored an impressive victory this past Saturday night at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, Quebec, as he held off a race long challenge from Cassius Clark to secure the win.

One of the biggest stories of the night was just as DJ Shaw pulled onto the starting grid for the main event, something broke on the potent #60 and the oil pump seized up. Fortunately they made a quick deal with Michael Lavoie and he was able to start the race from the back of the field.

PRO STOCK TOUR RETURNS TO SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD FOR LOCKHART TRUCK CENTER 150

pro stock tour(Halifax, NS, June 16, 2014) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to the tight, 3/10-mile Scotia Speedworld oval, located just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia for the Lockhart Truck Center 150 this Saturday, June 21st. The Lockhart Truck Center 150 marks the second of four stops at Scotia Speedworld on the 2014 schedule and round three of 12 for the popular stock car racing series. Grandstand gates for the Lockhart Truck Center 150 open at 3:00 PM; Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will get underway at 5:10 PM with racing slated for 6:00 PM.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour was slated to run the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150 at Riverside International Speedway last weekend but got washed out by two days of wet weather. The championship points picture remains unchanged following the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 100 which ran on May 31st. Current series champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS) sits atop the standings, followed by our most recent race winner Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE). Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS), Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) and Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) round out the top five respectively.

SCHOOLS OUT CELEBRATION TO HONOUR FALLEN HEROS SPEEDWAY TO FULFILL RACE FANS DREAM

Riverview & Shediac, NB – Shediac’s CENTRE for Speed will kick off its 2014 season on Saturday June 14th at 7pm, weather permitting. The first event of the season, the School’s Out Celebration, will feature the speedways Maritime Super Series of Stock Car Racing with 50-lap Sportsman, Street Stock, Mini Stock and Open Wheel Modified (Touring) divisions competing in a total of 200 feature laps plus qualifying.

“The CENTRE” is providing free admission to this event, with ID, to ALL emergency services personnel (police/ambulance/fire) and their immidiate families in recognition of their service. There will be a moment of silence and a competitors salute to honour the recently fallen heros here in Moncton. In addition all fans in attendance will receive a ballot to enter a draw where one fan (and up to 4 of thier choosen crew) will be given the chance to go racing for a day (and compete with the regular division competitors) in a CFS supplied Mini Stock car on their choice of July 5th, or Sept 13th, free of charge.

What won the race: After pitting on lap one of the feature event to repair fender damage, Andrew worked his way through the field. Taking the lead away from #17 Kevin Cornelius near the midpoint of the event, the #81 went unchallenged to pick up his first feature win of the 2014 season

Bad Luck of the event: #7 of Derrick Tiemersma suffered heavy damage in heat race action. #22 Glenn Watson and #39 Shane Gowan both received extensive race ending damage in separate incidents. Rookie contender #82 of Corey Jones continues to fight bad luck relegating him to a 21st place finish.

pro stock tour(Halifax, NS – May 15, 2014) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and Scotia Speedworld are excited to announce Atlantic Cat will return in 2014 to present the 15th Annual Atlantic Cat 250. The second of only two 250- lap events on the 2014 schedule, the Cat 250 will mark event nine of 12 for the region’s prestigious touring series. The race will be held at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday, August 9th and will highlight the biggest stock car racing weekend in the Halifax market this season.
