WALPOLE, NH – After a dominant performance at his home track, Hudson International Speedway, Derek Griffith looks to stay hot as the Granite State Pro Stock Series travels to Star Speedway for the Star 100, June 27.

Griffith, after picking up his second victory of the season (Claremont, Hudson), has slightly increased his point lead over Barry Gray, due in part to his spectacular streak to begin the 2015 campaign.  The Hudson, NH native has yet to finish outside the top four in a Granite State Pro Stock Series event this year.

The Bounty Is Back!!!

tobywantedToby Wells has shown dominance within the NEMST over the new 2015 season. Winning the first 4 events of the year and setting up for the largest mini stock race in the country at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 5. Wells will have one more struggle to overcome while racing on the 1-mile oval for the second year in a row, a $200 bounty on any car that beats him* during NEMST competition.

Last year NEMST placed a $100 bounty on Wells after winning four straight races once again with Wells suffering a mechanical failure at Star on 7/19/14 making the bounty invalid. At the following event (NHMS) on 8/3/14 Justin Larsen beat Wells to the line winning the first ever 1 mile oval event and collecting the bounty on Wells.

N. Woodstock, NH – Wayne Helliwell Jr. showed that it’s best to be lucky and good on Saturday night, winning the White Mountain 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park.

The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) point leader was running third when Brandon Atkins and Eddie MacDonald tangled racing for the lead on lap 115 of the 150-lap event. Dover, NH’s Helliwell inherited the lead and then pulled away from rival Joey Polewarczyk Jr. for his third win of the season and 10th of his ACT career.

“This is one of the toughest races we’ve had on the Tour in a long time,” Helliwell said. “We made some big wholesale changes to the car in practice and learned some stuff in the heat race, which transferred over to the feature. But at the beginning of the race, I thought all the changes we made were the wrong ones, because the car just went backwards…as the race unfolded, it kind of came to us. And then we lucked out on some things and were in the right spot at the right time.”

Hermon, ME – After enjoying a few weeks to celebrate their win at Thunder Road Speedbowl, the #73 JBJ Machine team with Joey Doiron behind the wheel returned to action this past weekend.  Race number six of the Pro All Stars Series North brought the team to Speedway 95 just outside of Bangor, Maine for the “Hight Chevrolet 150.” Doiron was looking to keep up the momentum in this race, but engine issues late in the race slowed his pace, but Doiron still managed to grab a eighth place finish.

“We had a top five car at least at the end there, but something went wrong with the motor and I lost the power steering too,” Doiron said after the race, “We had to pit and I made up as much ground as I could, and I’m glad we still salvaged a top ten out of today.”
