RMR Snocross News: Findley Lake, NY Event Recap

LePage sweeps Pro finals at Rock Maple Racing snocross finale
Todd, Woskob split Semi-Pro finals

FINDLEY LAKE, N.Y. (Mar. 29, 2010) – Veteran snowmobile racer Bobby LePage had only one option heading into last weekend’s season finale. Trailing his weekly rival Mathieu Morin by just one point in Pro Open and two in Pro Stock, his goal was to win both finals.

With determination in his eyes and well-prepared sleds in his grasp, LePage went out and swept the Pro finals as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) completed the ninth and final round on the 2009-10 snocross series Sunday afternoon at the beautiful Peek’n Peak Resort & Spa. Unofficially, LePage locked up the 2010 RMR Pro championships.

In Saturday’s grueling 20-lap Pro Open final, LePage (Hulten Speed Sports/Polaris), of Hermantown, MN, grabbed the holeshot and led all the way. Poirier slotted into second at the start and stayed there until Morin (Ingles Performance/Ski-doo) powered by at the end of lap five. Morin, of Val D’Or, QC, tried to reel in LePage but settled for second (by an 18-second margin), while Poirier filled out the podium. The final point tally and class champions within all five divisions will be official later this week.

JOHNNY CLARK GIVING HICKORY ANOTHER TRY

JOHNNY CLARK GIVING HICKORY ANOTHER TRY

FARMINGDALE, Maine — Johnny Clark will head back to Hickory Motor Speedway next week hoping that the third time is the charm.

After a pair of races at the North Carolina short track in which Clark felt he had a much better car than the final results showed, he’s set to turn things around in the second round of the PASS National Series. Clark has entered the PASS Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory on April 3, the second of five PASS National Series events in 2010.

“Hopefully, we’ll go down there and have a good run and see if we can’t get the (National) points lead,” said Clark, who finished second in the Winterfest 150 at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in January and trails Brad Leighton on the PASS National standings.

ROWE TAKING AN EASTER VACATION

ROWE TAKING AN EASTER VACATION

FALMOUTH, Maine — Ben Rowe decided Easter weekend was a perfect time to take a road trip.

Rowe will defend his 2009 Hickory Motor Speedway victory when he returns to North Carolina for the PASS Easter Bunny 150 at the storied track on April 2. The defending champion of both the PASS National Series and PASS South Series is the all-time winningest driver in PASS history with six total championships and 39 career victories.

The decision to participate in the second of five 2010 PASS National Series events was a last-minute one.

“Things have been kind of slow at work, and my father (inaugural PASS South Series champion Mike Rowe) decided we should go racing,” Ben Rowe said. “I figured, ‘Why not?’ He kind of got the whole thing rolling.”
