Oxford Plains Speedway Race Preview
Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, looks to put an exclamation point on the season with the PASS North Series holds its final race of 2012 with the PASS 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, September 30. Doiron has one win and a career-high five Top-5 finishes in 2012, and last season the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet posted a pair of Top-10 finishes in two races at Oxford Plains. Doiron is coming off mechanical troubles at White Mountain Motorsports Park last week, and is looking to get things turned in the right direction as the season comes to a close. (more…)

Andy Saunders of Ellsworth put an exclamation point on his 2012 championship in the Dysart’s Late Models Saturday night at Speedway 95 when he won the 35 lap feature after taking the lead from early leader Deane Smart of Milford on a lap 9 restart. Saunders led the rest of the way to the checkers with Smart holding on to the second spot at the finish. John Kalel II of Orrington finished third after a race long battle with Ryan Deane of Winterport and Joey Doyon of Winterport who finished fourth and fifth. Phil Richardson of Hermon, Ryan Modery of Hermon, Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs, Patrick Thibodeau of Winterport and last week’s winner, Donny Blanchard of Bangor, rounded out the top ten.
Steve Moulton of Holden won the 25 lap Maine State Lottery Sportsman feature along with the season’s points title in that division. Only one yellow flag slowed the action in that race when Brad Norris of Ellsworth and Joe Legere of Milford spun into the infield on lap 11 after contact between the two. Both drivers recovered to finish the race.Kris Watson of Hermon finished second. Ralph Melanson of Charleston finished third with Legere coming home fourth. Pole sitter Kris Matchett of Skowhegan finished fifth. (more…)

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report
SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, finished seventh while teammate and car owner Scott Mulkern of Falmouth, Maine, finished 11th in the PASS North Series SouthernMaineMotors.com 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 16. Sommerville started 23 in the No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders/Southern Maine Motors Chevrolet and led briefly in the second half of the event after gaining track position with a fast pit stop, while Mulkern started seventh after an impressive run in qualifying before battling a handling issue in the No. 84 Southern Maine Motors/Community Pharmacies Chevrolet throughout the afternoon. It marked the fourth straight Top-10 finish for Sommerville this season. (more…)

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report
SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished second in the PASS North Series SouthernMaineMotors.com 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 16. After a crash in qualifying on Saturday, Doiron started 26th in the 32-car field and drove all the way to the Top-10 by the midway point of the season’s longest race. The No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet led for more than 20 laps in the late stages of the event, but he was overtaken on a restart with just 19 laps remaining and couldn’t regain track position lost following contact with a lapped car. It was Doiron’s second Top-2 finish in three starts at Beech Ridge this season. (more…)
