Bobby Baillargeon picks up Hudson Hugger 100 victory

Bobby Baillargeon in Hudson VL-Granite State Pro Stock Hudson Hugger 100 8-25-2013Kingston NH’s Bobby Baillargeon led all but lap 2 on his way to his second consecutive Hudson Hugger win. Hudson’s Derek Griffith and Baillargeon brought the 21 field car down to the green, and the pair raced wheel to wheel for the first few laps, swapping the lead back and forth, before Bobby was able to close the door for the top spot. Barry Gray, Jimmy Renfrew and Mike O’Sullivan rounded out the top five on the opening laps.

 

The first caution came out on the 21st circuit when Eric Sands spun in the fourth corner. Austin Brehio made slight contact, but went to the pits for repairs. It was three laps later when the second yellow flew when the points leader Jeremy Davis, Jake Vanada and Mike O’Sullivan got together in turn three.

Sweet Puts on a Clinic, Wins Late Model 100

troadBarre, VT – Nick Sweet went home with the winner’s trophy/hardware on Aubuchon Night after a masterful performance in the Late Model 100 Friday at Thunder Road.

It was the first win of the season for the defending track champion, who came from 18th on the starting grid in the St. J Auto No. 88.

Sweet shot underneath eventual runner-up Jean-Paul Cyr for 2nd on lap 52, took the lead from Brett Gervais a lap later and then quickly drew out to a commanding advantage.

Lee USA Speedway Results

leeLee, NH – Former Lee USA Speedway Late Model and NASCAR New England Regional champion Ricky Wolf, Jr. collected his second win of the 2013 season after an impressive run in the Benson Lumber and Hardware sponsored 30-lap feature event for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Small Block Supermodifieds at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night.

 

Backing up his first win in the open-wheelers back on July 12, Wolf quickly got past polesitter Leslie Keyser to assume the lead, and he never looked back, leading every lap on the way to a crowded  victory lane celebration with his legion of fans, known at the speedway as “The Wolfpack“.

Eric Chase Strikes Again on FairPoint Night at Thunder Road

troadBarre, VT – Ten days after his first Late Model career win, which was 14 years in the making, Eric Chase of Milton was back in victory lane on FairPoint Communications Night Sunday at Thunder Road.

 Chase ruled the FairPoint Communications Night 50-lap main event after taking the lead from Joey Becker on lap 8. Jason Corliss and Phil Scott spent over 20 laps in hot pursuit before the race came apart on the frontstretch on lap 43.

 As lapped car Dave Whitcomb eased up the track to let Chase slip through, he was turned by Corliss who was coming off turn four at full throttle. Scott slammed on the brakes and came to a stop against Whitcomb, only to be hammered from behind by Jamie Fisher.

Robby Douglas the Ice Cream Bandit

DSC_379012 year-old Robby Douglas from Derry, NH is one of the young drivers who races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) in the Gifford’s Ice Cream Bandolero Series. Halfway through the race season, Robby is second in points behind Casey Call.

Making the move from Tiger Sprint karts, racing at Route 106, to Bandoleros was a logical step towards Robby’s future racing in NASCAR: “I had a lot of fun at the arrive and drive and I really wanted to drive on NHMS and I wanted to learn how to drive a stock car so this is a good stepping stone.”

Thunder Road Street Stock Disqualifications Announced

troadBarre, VT – Following last Sunday’s (8/11) 50-lap Street Stock special at Barre’s Thunder Road, engines were torn down and checked. Thunder Road officials have announced the engines of #38 five-time winner Greg Adams, Jr. and the #16 Dean Switser, Jr. were both found illegal. Adams engine was illegal due to piston and camshaft issues, while the engine of Switser was illegal with camshaft issues. The #92 Garry Bashaw was also found illegal in post race inspection for an illegal carburetor and refusal to allow his motor to be torn down.

Adams, Switser and Bashaw have all been disqualified from Sunday’s Street Stock event. The motor infractions have resulted in a complete loss of points for the 2013 season and all three competitors found illegal have been suspended from racing at Thunder Road or any ACT-sanctioned event for the remainder of the 2013 season.
