Waterbury, VT – The American Racer Three Star program is designed to recognize three non-podium teams in no particular order of performance that had outstanding races at American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S. Tour and select ACT-sanctioned events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer tire (value $125.00), but a special effort by a team, exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or any other accepted reason is used to decide the award recipients.
The Three Stars are chosen by ACT officials and will receive certificates for use of a free American Racer tire at a future ACT event.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. –What could have ended disastrously, a little perseverance and help from other teams turned the day around to get Emily Packard and her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team back on the track and a top ten finish in the American Canadian Tour finale.
During the final practice on Saturday, with just a few minutes left in practice, Packard headed back out to the track to feel out the latest changes made by the crew. Headed into turn one, a slower local driver spun right in front of the 18 year old, leaving her no place to go but into the side of him, demolishing the front end of the car. “He just spun out in front of me,” said Emily. “He started to back up the track so I thought I would be able to clear him, but he started rolling back down right in front of me. The impact destroyed the car, I mean it ripped out every single bracing we had on the nose and trashed the radiator.”

The ACT tour joins the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing this Saturday for the season finale of the American Canadian Tour, and Emily Packard and her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels 9x team is ready to go. “This is my first trip to Thompson,” said the East Montpelier native. “I have heard that it is a fast track with long straightaways and high banking. I am really excited and look forward to this weekend.”

Defending Milk Bowl champion Eddie MacDonald’s quest to repeat ended with a hard crash into the front stretch wall at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont after only two laps in the second segment. The 53rd running of the Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl attracted 47 Late Models on Saturday and Sunday October 10 and 11 all vying for the converted 30 starting positions.
Eddie Mac qualified Saturday for the event while posting a third place finish in the first of three qualifying races. The Rowley, Mass. Veteran missed qualifying on speed when he posted the fourth fastest time of the day. The top three cars automatically received starting positions in the race commonly called the “toughest short track race in the country.” With the third place run Eddie Mac, driving the Exit Realty/Hancock Electric Chevy, earned the tenth starting position for the Sunday feature before a packed stadium.
