Sweet Makes Thrilling Final Charge for Second Milk Bowl Win

Barre, VT – Local hero Nick Sweet added to his growing legend on Sunday, October 11, slicing through the field in the final laps to win the final segment and capture his second career Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl win in the 2015 Thunder Road season finale.

 

The multi-time Thunder Road Late Model Champion entered the final segment trailing rival and three-time defending “King of the Road” Derrick O’Donnell by five points in the overall tally and was running seventh to O’Donnell’s eleventh when the first of three caution flags flew on lap 37 of the 50-lap segment. Seeing the Milk Bowl within his grasp, Sweet seized the moment, needing just seven more laps to charge to the lead.

O’Donnell, Sweet on Front Row for 53rd Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl

Barre, VT – Thunder Road rivals Derrick O’Donnell of N. Haverhill, NH and Barre’s Nick Sweet will lead the field to the green flag in Segment 1 of the 53rd Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday, October 11.

 

Three-time defending “King of the Road” O’Donnell topped a field of 47 challengers in Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Time Trials with a fast lap of 13.229 seconds to take the pole. 2013 Milk Bowl Champion Sweet was right on his heels with a lap of 13.249 seconds and will start outside the front row.

Packard Ready for the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Park Speedway

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – With only two races left on the American Canadian Tour schedule, Emily Packard and her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team is ready to return to Airborne Park Speedway this weekend for the Fall Foliage 200.  “We have raced there two times already this season,” said Packard, “and it makes a difference to know the track as we head there.”

 

Packard has competed in the Fall Foliage race the last 2 seasons, finishing 11th (in 2013) and 15th (2014) and believes that she can have a good finish again this weekend.  “We always have a good car and seem to run pretty decent here,” Packard said.  “I hope we can get the car dialed in during practice and so I can go out and have a great run and finish as far up front as I can.”

Bonus Money Added to Bemer’s Big Show 150

GSPS2WATERFORD, CT – The Granite State Pro Stock Series’ finale at New London-Waterford Speedbowl will have an added twist, as The Racing Guys have put up extra money for drivers competing in the Bemer’s Big Show 150.

 

An extra $1100 will be up for grabs to Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) drivers, courtesy of the organizers of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series (TTOMS).

Lee USA Speedway Oktoberfest Preview

leeLee, NH – Lee USA Speedway’s Oktoberfest 2015 is just two weeks away, with racers representing tracks and tours from all six New England States and beyond expected to compete in the 18 divisions on the schedule at “New Hampshire’s Center of Speed”, closing out the season’s on-track action with one of the most-anticipated events of the year.

Over 300 race teams competed in last year’s version of Oktoberfest, and this year’s schedule invites even more racers, as virtually every type of race car that competes from Connecticut to Maine will fit in the varied set of rules, and a record-setting field is expected enter the weekend’s events.

MacDonald Tames New Hampshire Again for 4th Invitational Win

Loudon, NH – Eddie “The Outlaw” MacDonald took advantage of a well-timed caution to surge to the lead with 15 laps remaining and win the 7th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 26.

 

The Rowley, MA driver started 20th and was running a distant third to Jimmy Hebert and Joey Polewarczyk Jr. when the caution came out for early leader Jeff Rocco’s spin in turn four on lap 31 of the 50-lap event. But MacDonald came to life on the restart, eventually grabbing the lead from “Joey Pole” and holding on through a final caution to beat the impending darkness and score his fourth Invitational win.
