D.J. Shaw claimed a thrilling victory in the closing laps of Thursday's Celebration of America 300 held at Oxford Plains Speedway. The race delivered an intense showdown, particularly as the contest evolved into a battle between American and Canadian drivers vying for the top spot.
As the race entered its final stages, fellow Center Conway native Gabe Brown battled closely with Quebec's Alexendre "Fireball" Tardif for the lead. Brown managed to hold off repeated challenges from Tardif, keeping the championship fight tight among the contenders.
In a dramatic move, Shaw surged to the front just before the checkered flag, passing both Tardif and Brown to secure the win by a margin of more than a second. The victory was met with surprise by Shaw himself, who struggled to find words to describe the incredible late-race heroics.
Tardif rounded out the podium, finishing ahead of Garrett Hall and Cole Robie. While the finish was dramatic for Shaw, other front-runners also faced disappointment, including Johnny Clark, who suffered a flat tire, and Corey Bubar, who did not return after losing power under caution.
