D.J. Shaw delivered a stunning performance in the closing laps of Thursday's Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains Speedway, ultimately taking the checkered flag. The race turned into an intense battle for the lead as Shaw fought through the field to secure the victory amidst heavy rain.
The competition for the top spot was fierce, particularly between Shaw and fellow Center Conway natives Gabe Brown and Alexendre "Fireball" Tardif. As the race entered its final 40 laps, Brown battled Tardif for position, but Shaw managed to pull away. Inside the final ten laps, Shaw successfully passed both Brown and Tardif, opening a significant gap at the finish.
Shaw expressed his surprise following the dramatic win, noting the difficulty of the race. "I can't even believe it, man," Shaw stated in victory lane, reflecting on the 300-lap effort and the quality of the cars involved. Brown acknowledged the tight competition, mentioning that tire issues complicated the run for everyone involved.
Alexendre Tardif finished ahead of Garrett Hall and Cole Robie on the podium, while Derek Griffith secured sixth place. Other notable results included Johnny Clark finishing 14th after suffering a flat tire, and Corey Bubar finishing 22nd in the race.
