The 53rd Annual Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 is shaping up to be another unpredictable spectacle, with over 50 drivers already vying for the coveted trophy. This historic race, which has seen 38 different drivers triumph over the last 52 editions, remains a grueling test of skill, making the prediction of who will claim victory a thrilling challenge for fans.
Former champions are certainly worth watching, as six drivers currently on the entry list hold ten of the 250 championships. This group includes the father-son duo Mike and Ben Rowe, with Ben Rowe being a two-time winner. Other established names like Johnny Clark, Scott Robbins, and two-time champion Eddie Macdonald are also positioned to take the top spot on August 30th.
However, the real battle lines are drawn among the drivers who have yet to win. D.J. Shaw, a nine-time PASS champion, is considered a favorite despite having failed to win the Oxford 250 in 15 previous attempts. Alongside him are Derek Griffith, who boasts multiple PASS National championships, and Joey Doiron, the inaugural winner of the Celebration of America 300. Garrett Hall is also showing signs of resurgence, making this quartet key contenders.
Beyond the established names, the under-30 contingent presents significant threats. Drivers who have accelerated their experience through karting and IRacing are bringing a potent mix of speed and experience to the oval. Leaders like Jimmy Renfrew Jr., along with perennial front-runners Gabe Brown and Alexandre Tardif, signal that the field is deep and the surprises are likely to be plentiful.
