Tyler Dinsmore Scores First Career Win at Wiscasset Speedway

We're nearing the end of August and for race fans in Maine, it means that we are approaching some of the biggest races of the summer. On Saturday, fans piled into Wiscasset Speedway for another Group 2 program PLUS 100-lap Enduro race, the last event at the track before Boss Hogg 150 weekend.
L-R: Alec Brown, Adam Chadbourne & Kyle Hewins. The night kicked off with the Pepsi spotlight feature: a 30-lap bout for the Creative Cleanouts Sport Modifieds. Kyle Hewins powered to the early lead, but Adam Chadbourne was quick to his door, challenging for the top spot. The two drivers battled it out for a couple of laps before Chadbourne pulled ahead with the advantage on lap 5. While battling for position, Kyle Hewins got bent out of shape on lap 22 in turn 3, sacrificing second to Alec Brown. Adam Chadbourne held strong at the front of the pack, securing his second straight victory in the division while Alec Brown and Kyle Hewins rounded out the top 3. Results from the Sport Modified race are unofficial and pending post-race technical inspection of the engine on Adam Chadbourne's #1 machine due to 3 wins in the division.

After scoring his first career heat win, Tyler Dinsmore pulled out to a sizable early lead in the 25-lap feature for the Portland Glass Strictly Streets. Ethan Dinsmore went around in front of the pack on lap 6, causing most of the field to scatter and resulting in an early caution. Tyler Dinsmore continued to lead the charge on the restart and the top 3 drivers pulled away while it was a slugfest from fourth on back. Chaz Briggs pulled to Landon Tapley's outside door on lap 18, challenging for second. While Tyler Dinsmore sailed into his first career victory, Briggs and Tapley battled it out until the bitter end, with Briggs snagging the spot at the line by a mere .035 seconds.

Hayden Carver powered to the early lead in the 25-lap feature for the Dale's Cash Fuel Roadrunners while Keegan Leighton was slow off the line, bogging up the outside groove. Karigan Glasier was all over Hayden Carver's back bumper in the opening laps of the race and a caution on lap 7 for debris was her saving grace to get closer to the leader. Glasier got a great jump on the restart, overtaking the lead, which left Hayden Carver and Gavin Gerow battling it out for second. Gavin Gerow pulled ahead with the advantage on lap 14 while Jason Sears followed in succession. Lucas Bickford's #77 machine blew up on lap 19, leaving fluid on the track. This resulted in an extended caution for track cleanup. Karigan Glasier jumped ahead on the restart and never looked back, picking up her first win of the season while Gavin Gerow and Jason Sears completed the podium.
L-R: David Greenleaf, Nick Morton, Carter Morton & Logan Melcher. Will Collins hopped out to the early lead in the 40-lap feature for the Wood Pellet Warehouse Late Models. Collins and Nick Morton were able to pull away from the main pack in the opening laps of the race, putting on their own show at the front of the field. Morton was all over Collins' back bumper leading up to the halfway mark, pulling to his outside door on lap 26. The two drivers swapped the lead back and forth lap after lap, with neither driver giving up an inch. They took a lap car 3-wide on lap 33, which propelled Morton to the lead. As Morton pulled away, there was a 3-way battle for third in the closing laps of the race between Ben Burgess, Frank Moulton and Jonathon Emerson. Nick Morton held his own, scoring his first career Late Model victory. Will Collins followed while Frank Moulton spun across the finish line behind them following contact by Jonathon Emerson, scoring a picture-perfect third place finish.
Nearly 50 drivers showed up to compete in the third 100-lap Enduro race of the season, 48 cars to be exact. With the race format being 100 laps completed or one hour, whichever comes first, it was impressive that a field that big made it to the 100 laps before reaching the time limit. Although Nick Hansen was the first car to cross the finish line, he finished the race on a flat tire, which did not follow the "30-pound pressure" rule. Due to this, he was scored as the last car running, handing the win over to Irving Doughty while Izaah York and Alex Hinkley rounded out the podium.
With major race weekends taking place elsewhere across Maine, it was amazing to see so many fans come out on Saturday to enjoy the Group 2 racing program and Enduro, which was an absolute hit with the fans. "It reminded me of back in the day when there was often 30+ cars in the class. Dang, that was fun", Mike Dulany shared on Facebook, who was among the many who shared their positive thoughts on the event.
Team Wiscasset is excited to carry the momentum into the coveted "Nitro Trailer Boss Hogg 150" this weekend, featuring two days of racing fun. Saturday will kick off with the 8th annual "Racin' Cancer" walk, benefiting the Dean Snell Cancer Foundation. The event, which will run from 8:30-10, raised $22,248.57 last year between the walk, Enduro car raffle, prize raffles, sponsorships and more, growing the 7-year total to an amazing $95,000 raised. Event organizer Penny Shorette is excited to crest the $100,000 mark this year, taking the walk to new heights. The racing portion of the day will kick off at 2:00 pm, a start time that will remain through the conclusion of the 2026 race season. The program will include the County Truss 4-Cylinder Pros, Maine Army National Guard Thunder 4 Minis, flex Carver's Driving Academy Crown Vics and the visiting New England Dwarf Cars. The main highlight of the weekend is the $10,000-to-win Boss Hogg 150 on Sunday, the biggest Pro Stock race of the year that honors Hall of Fame driver Dave St. Clair. Last year's race was arguably one of the most exciting to date, with longtime Wiscasset Speedway driver Logan Melcher beating out young phenom Sylas Ripley on the final lap for the victory. Sponsored laps for the race are nearly sold out at $25 a piece, which go directly toward the overall purse. Contingency bonuses are also on the line, including a $500 "halfway leader" bonus sponsored by MDG Logging and "top time" time trial bonuses ($350/$150) sponsored by the Maine Army National Guard. The Davis Erector Group 207 Crate Modifieds and the Darling's Brunswick Ford Super Streets ($1000-to-win race) will also be joining the program on Sunday, further adding to the excitement. The green flag flies at 2:00 on Sunday and even on the biggest race weekends, adult general admission tickets remain just $5 while kids 6 and under get in for free.
