D.J. Shaw claimed victory in the Stan Meserve Classic last Saturday, securing his 15th career win and adding a trophy to his collection. The veteran driver dominated the 128-lap tribute race at Speedway presented by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, solidifying his status as a top contender in the Granite State Pro Stock Series. Shaw took the checkered flag, marking his third GSPSS feature win of 2026.
Shaw’s victory was particularly significant as it ended a decade-long winning streak for Maine racers in the GSPSS. Since his win in 2016 at Wiscasset Speedway, no out-of-state driver had won a GSPSS event hosted in the Pine Tree State. Shaw’s performance, which saw him set the fast time, successfully broke that local streak.
While Shaw held steady in the lead, rising star Sylas Ripley challenged hard in the closing laps, managing to get within a quarter of a second, but ultimately falling short of the win. Reigning champion Cole Robie finished third, while Garrett Hall, the first-ever GSPSS winner at Speedway, secured fourth place.
The Stan Meserve Classic featured a deep field of 25 cars. Other notable finishers included Casey Call, who placed fifth, and Joey Polewarczyk, who finished eighth. The event served as a prelude to the season finale, the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust 200, which is set for Sunday.
