Unity Raceway moves weekly racing card to Saturday nights

Unity, Maine — Saturday night racing returns to Unity Raceway for the first time in several years, effective immediately, promoter George Fernald, Jr. has announced. The track had previously published a 2010 schedule consisting primarily of Friday night race cards with a post time of 6:30 p.m. These events have now been rescheduled for Saturdays, with the first race scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

 

The events scheduled for this Saturday (May 22) and Saturday, May 29 will start as 4:00 p.m. as previously announced. The Friday night preliminary racing card for May 29’s Memorial 300 racing program will take place as scheduled, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

St Clair wins at Unity Raceway Moulton wraps up track championship

Watson, McAlpine, Rackliff and Wilson score feature and championship victories at regular season finale

 

Unity, Maine – Josh St. Clair of Liberty took the bait this time and came from shotgun position on the starting grid to win the 30-lap Late Model feature at Unity Raceway Friday night. A fourth-place finish in the event was more than enough for Frank Moulton of Burnham to claim the 2009 track championship, the 61st at the historic oval. St. Clair was slated to start his main event from pole position, but took promoter George Fernald’s $150 offer to start in the rear of the lineup.

Modery, Turbovsky top winners at Unity Raceway

 

Scott Modery of Hermon prevailed in a wild Late Model feature race topping the card at Unity Raceway Friday night. Modery took the lead away from Winterport’s Joey Doyon, then survived several restarts, mostly up against eventual runner-up Ajay Picard of Palmyra.. Dylan Turner of Freedom bounced back from early troubles to claim the third-place trophy. Point leader Frank Moulton of Burnham was fourth under the checkered flag, followed by Chris Doucette of Casco.

St. Clair, Moulton top winners at Unity Raceway McAlpine, Feeney win twice on busy racing card

 

Unity, Maine – Josh St. Clair of Liberty and Steve Moulton of Holden were winners in the top two classes at Unity Raceway Friday night, while two feature wins were scored by both Carl McAlpine of Burnham and Molly Feeney of Hope on a busy racing program including three make-up features previously postponed by summer rain.

Other feature winners on Benton Family Fun Park Night included Clinton’s Ben Clark, Steve Rackliff of Starks, Kyle Gallant of Veazie, Mike Mason of Skowhegan and Chris Burbelo of Frankfort.
