Tim Campbell Takes Allen Lumber Street Stock Special
Barre, VT – Swanton’s Taber Gagne earned the $3,000 pay day in the 26th Annual M&M Beverage 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, August 8. The former Airborne Speedway Tiger Sportsman competitor was the only driver to complete all 200 laps. A total of 104 cars from all over the Northeast were on hand to take their shot at the top prize.
Tim Campbell of West Topsham earned his fifth win of the 2010 Thunder Road Allen Lumber Street Stock season in the 50 lap M&M Beverage special. Campbell worked his way into the lead just before the halfway point from his seventeenth starting position. He would hold off a hard charging Mike MacAskill, who won last season’s Street Stock special, without giving up the lead for the remainder of the event.

Barre, VT – Waitsfield’s Grant Folsom earned his second career Thunder Road Late Model feature win on Safelite Autoglass Night on Thursday, August 5. Folsom led flag to flag from the pole position as the 50 lap feature was completed with just one caution. Reno Gervais came home second while Jamie Fisher edged out John Donahue for third. Phil Scott followed Donahue to the line to complete the top five.
Current Thunder Road Late Model point leader Dave Pembroke took sixth followed by Nick Sweet, Rich Lowrey, Cris Michaud and last week’s winner Joey Becker rounding out the top ten.

Barre, VT – Three finalists in the Thunder Road International Speedbowl Announcer’s Contest have been selected. The season-long contest has reached its final round with three contestants remaining.
The contest began earlier this season with 10 competitors taking their turns calling the action at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” in an attempt to find another new voice for one of America’s most famous short tracks. The field of ten is now down to three with Lyndonville’s Aaron Maynard, Eden’s Jason Heath and Montpelier’s Michael Stridsberg entering the final round over the next two weeks.

Barre, VT – Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl has recently announced the return of the Run-What-U-Brung event on Aaron’s Sales and Lease night, Thursday, August 12. The semi-annual event gives fans a chance to feel what it’s like to race around the 1/4-mile highbanked speedbowl in their personal vehicle.
The event features single lap elimination match races between two street-legal cars at a time. Drivers must wear a helmet, long sleeve shirt and pants while they wheel their currently registered and inspected vehicle door handle-to-door handle with their competition. Elimination events will be run until one driver is left standing and crowned the 2010 Run-What-U-Brung Champion.

Ste-Eustache, QC – Terrebonne, QC’s Sylvain Lacombe earned his 14th career Serie ACT Castrol Edge win in the Ste-Eustache 100 at Autodrome Ste-Eustache on Saturday, July 31. Lacombe led the final nine laps of the event to take the win.
Jean-Francois Dery led the majority of the event and appeared to have the car to beat before Jonathan Urlin used the bump and run to get by him with nine laps to go. Urlin was black flagged for the move, giving Lacombe the lead as Dery fell back in the outside lane.
Lacombe was chased to the line by Patrick Laperle and rookie Martin Latulippe. Martin Lacombe came home fourth while Dery recovered to finish fifth. Jonathan Bouvrette, Philippe Jeannotte, Patrick Hamel, Claude Leclerc, and David Michaud completed the top ten.

Claremont, NH – Newport, NH’s Mark Hayward earned his first career ACT Late Model Tour win at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH on Friday, July 30. Hayward took the lead from Twin State regular Aaron Fellows, who led the first 52 laps of the 100 lap event. Hayward held off the likes of Ben Rowe, current ACT Tour point leader Brian Hoar and Randy Potter over the remaining 48 laps to take the win.
Rowe took second while Fellows finished third. Potter and Jeff Zuidema rounded out the top five. TJ Watson worked his way from his 20th starting position to take sixth followed by John Donahue, Hoar, last week’s Beech Ridge winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. and rookie Austin Theriault completing the top ten.
