PAYEA, HENRY BREAK THROUGH IN MERCHANTS BANK 150

BARRE, VT – For young stock car racer Scott Payea and veteran underdog campaigner Ron Henry, the
outcome of the Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road International Speedway in Barre, VT could not have been
sweeter. The second round of the international American-Canadian Tour (ACT) championship series was a
breakthrough event for the two drivers, as each scored their best career result by finishing first and
second, respectively.

TOP DRIVERS IMPRESSED WITH ACT OPENER AT OXFORD

Sample Image WATERBURY, VT – Fifty-two of New England and Canada’s top stock car drivers converged on the 3/8-mile oval at Oxford Plains (ME) Speedway for the American-Canadian Tour’s (ACT) New England Dodge Dealers 150 on Saturday, and walked away impressed. Turning 150 laps in just 54 minutes with only two caution periods, the cars and stars of the ACT Late Model Tour gave race fans a clean, fast-paced, and exciting race program.

BARRE, VT – Discount, advance sale tickets for Thunder Road’s 48th annual season opener, the Sunday, May 6 Merchants Bank 150, are now on sale at all three locations of Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel.  Adult general admission tickets purchased in advance at the Lenny’s stores in Barre, Williston or St. Albans will cost $15, a savings of $3 off the $18 “day of race” price.

OXFORD, ME – Management at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway has announced that Saturday's practice session (April 21) has been cancelled due to wet conditions at the track.  Many ACT Tour competitors had hoped to take advantage of the extra time at the Maine oval to prepare for the following weekend's ACT Tour opener at the 3/8ths mile speedplant.

THUNDER ROAD'S 48TH SEASON POINT BATTLES WIDE OPEN 

Barre, VT — Three of Thunder Road's weekly divisions will begin the hunt for this year's "King of the Road" titles on Sunday, May 6 when the ACT Late Model Tour hits town for the Merchants Bank 150. Each of the 2006 champions have moved to other divisions and will not return to defend their crowns which leaves the quest for the titles wide open.
