ACT Pit Report – Lee USA Speedway

ACT LogoLee, NH – The American Canadian Tour Late Models hit the track for the first time in 2013 with an optional practice at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Thirty-six (36) cars took advantage of the practice day in preparation for tomorrow’s (Sunday, April 14) NH Governor’s Cup 150 season opener.

Former ACT champions dominated the top of the speed charts in each of the four practice sessions. Eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT led one of the four sessions while seven-time ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT topped the final two. Multi-time Lee USA track champion and defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH held down the second fastest spot in each of the four sessions.

Bonuses Announced for International 500

ACT LogoWaterbury, VT – The biggest stock car racing event of the summer keeps getting better as American Canadian Tour officials have announced a bonus program for participating racers in the Inaugural International 500 at Airborne Speedway on the weekend of July 20/21.

Drivers who file their entry by the Tuesday, April 16 deadline will be eligible for Goodyear Halfway Bonus awards, which will make the leader of the half-way mark of each segment $1,000 richer, leaving a potential for a driver to gain up to $3,000 in Goodyear bonuses alone. On top of that, every team that has filed their entry by the deadline will be entered into a drawing for eight (8) Goodyear tires, a $960 value, to be used for the 300-lap special event.

Thunder Road Late Model Practice Cancelled

troadBarre, VT – The Late Model practice scheduled for Wednesday, April 10 at Thunder Road has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Late Model practice tires will still be available from 5-6pm by appointment at (802) 244-6963. An all division practice at Thunder Road is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17.

The American Canadian Tour will kickoff their season this weekend April 13/14 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH while Thunder Road divisions will see their season opener at the Nation’s Site of Excitement at the Merchants Bank 150 on April 27/28. A practice for Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will be held at Thunder Road next Wednesday, April 17 from 4-7pm. Gates will open at 3pm. Teams can also pick up practice tires at the Thunder Road tire barn on Tuesday, April 16th from 5-7pm.

Merchants Bank 150 Opens 54th Season At Thunder Road

Barre, VT – The snow is finally melting as race teams and fans prepare for the first real sign of springtime: The 15th Annual Merchants Bank 150 at Barre’s Thunder Road on the weekend of April 27/28.

The race serves as the opening point-counting event for the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks, but will also bring in the stars of the American Canadian Tour to challenge the local Late Model division. Last season fans saw 8-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar pick up his second win of the season at the Nation’s Site of Excitement, with eventual ACT champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. on his tail. Helliwell will be looking to score the victory at his home track, but he joins a long list of favorites to steal the opening event.

Entries Pile for Lee USA Opener

Waterbury, VT – Race season is finally upon us as the American Canadian Tour kicks off their 2013 season with the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 14th. The pressure will be on for last year’s winner Brian Hoar and 8-time Lee USA Speedway Champion and defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr., but the competition will be hungry after a long offseason away.

Rowley, MA’s Eddie Macdonald, a 2-time Bond Auto ACT Invitational winner, will make the trek to Lee, NH, making him one of the early favorites. He led laps late in last year’s opening event, but was caught up in an altercation with Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. that ended both drivers’ hopes at the win.

Two-time Série ACT Castrol Champion Donald Theetge will be crossing the border to represent the Canadians, along with fellow Quebec racer Alex Labbé, who will be driving the familiar ride of former Castrol Series Champion Karl Allard out of the Larue Motorsports stable. (more…)

GEORGIA, Vt. – After combining to win more races and championships than any driver and car owner tandem in the history of the ACT Late Model Tour, Brian Hoar and Rick Paya are shifting gears in 2013.

The decorated driver and owner/crew chief combination will compete part-time on the ACT Late Model Tour this season, beginning this weekend with the season-opening New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H., on April 20-21.

“I just have a lot going on business-wise and personal-wise, and I’ve been racing a long time,” said Hoar, 40, who has won the last two ACT races at Lee USA. “Life is all about balance and balancing everything between family, work and racing. My family and I are just as busy as ever. Spending so much time racing (became harder) with all of my work requirements and things I wanted to do with the family. (more…)
