Bobby Baillargeon picks up Hudson Hugger 100 victory

Bobby Baillargeon in Hudson VL-Granite State Pro Stock Hudson Hugger 100 8-25-2013Kingston NH’s Bobby Baillargeon led all but lap 2 on his way to his second consecutive Hudson Hugger win. Hudson’s Derek Griffith and Baillargeon brought the 21 field car down to the green, and the pair raced wheel to wheel for the first few laps, swapping the lead back and forth, before Bobby was able to close the door for the top spot. Barry Gray, Jimmy Renfrew and Mike O’Sullivan rounded out the top five on the opening laps.

 

The first caution came out on the 21st circuit when Eric Sands spun in the fourth corner. Austin Brehio made slight contact, but went to the pits for repairs. It was three laps later when the second yellow flew when the points leader Jeremy Davis, Jake Vanada and Mike O’Sullivan got together in turn three.

BARRY GRAY WINS JBH MEMORIAL 100 AT MONADNOCK

GSM2    WINCHESTER, NH- Barry Gray from Belchertown, Mass., did everything he could to make a clean pass on race leader Mike Parks, but it wasn’t until Parks spun his tires on a lap 79 restart that Gray was able to take the lead and win the Granite State Pro Stock Series JBH Memorial 100 on Saturday night at the Monadnock (N.H.) Speedway.

 

    “There are a lot of strong cars in this division,” Gray said in victory lane. “When you win a race doing this it’s a real good deal. My hats off to my crew. I want to thank Monadnock Speedway. It’s nice that the Pro Stocks have a place to go.”

JBH Memorial 100 set for Granite State Pro Stocks at Monadnock this Saturday.

GSM2After a three week layoff, on Saturday, August 3rd, the Granite State Pro Stocks return to the high banks of Monadnock Speedway for the second annual JBH Memorial 100. This is the second of two events scheduled at the Winchester, NH speedplant.

The first JBH Memorial was postponed three times before it was finally run in 2012, before having the name changed to the Vampire 100 in October. Even with the weather finally cooperating, John Hoyt’s presence was felt as the lights went dim just before introductions.

Barry Gray, former Monadnock Speedway Pro Stock Champion picked up the win on that mid autumn evening, holding off Fran Colson and reigning GSPSS Champion Bobby Cabral. It was the first series win for Gray, which remains his only win to date on the series. (more…)

O’Sullivan Nabs Hudson Gate City Classic

GSM2Hudson, NH. – Mike O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, made his first ever visit to Hudson (NH) Speedway a memorable one as he won the Granite State Pro Stock Series sanctioned ‘Gate City Classic 100’ Sunday night, July 7.

O’Sullivan started fourth in an 18-car field and moved to the front at the beginning of lap 44 when he passed Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, NH.

Davis set a torrid pace after passing early leader Barry Gray on lap seven. For a period, Davis looked like the car to beat leading for 35 laps until O’Sullivan made his race-winning pass.

Bandoleros Call of the Wild

This race season, Casey Call from Pembroke, NH has made the move from racing karts and quarter midgets to racing Bandoleros in the Gifford’s Ice Cream Bandolero Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).

The first step for most race car drivers is racing in karts, and according to Casey: “When I was 4 ½, my dad bought me my first Quarter Midget and we started racing it at Route 106 Race Park every weekend. It was a big learning curve for me but I loved every minute of it. In our first year we won seven times and I won the track championship! Since then, I have moved up the karting ranks and have won a total of five Championships between two tracks and was also awarded with Driver of the Year at Twin State Speedway last year!”

The Granite State Pro Stocks set to make history at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in the Slate Valley 100.

GSM2On Friday night. June 14, the Granite State Pro Stock Series will make history at the historic Devil’s Bowl Speedway, when they invade Vermont’s Fastest ½ mile speedway. For the first time since the historic ½ speedway was repaved, the Pro Stocks will take center stage in the First Annual Carmody Ford “Slate Valley 100”.

Returning to GSPSS action will be Rutland’s Chris Wilk, who was the Granite State Pro Stocks first ever winner in August of 2011 at the Twin State Speedway. Chris will lead the Green Mountain State entrants, which include defending Milk Bowl Champion Dave Pembroke, who hails from Middlesex, and Josh King of Vernon. This event is slated to include entrants from all 6 New England states.
