Polewarczyk, JR. Steals Seacoast 100 Win at Lee USA Speedway

Durham, NH- Joey Polewarczyk, JR. used a two-lap shootout to best point leader Larry Gelinas en route to grabbing his second career victory in the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS).
Newcomer to the GSPSS Bobby Nadeau led the field to green with Marston Mills, MA native Billy Brady to his outside. Nadeau proved he had a fast car, jumping out to a quick lead. The advantage would be wiped away as the first of 6 cautions flew for Russ Hersey’s spin in turn 3 on lap 14. On the restart, Nadeau would drift wide and collect Brady on the backstretch, ending both driver’s nights early. Larry Gelinas would inherit the lead, and be faced with American-Canadian Tour point leader Joey Polewarczyk, JR. to his outside. Gelinas would show his strength, as the pilot of the Watt’s Race Cars Cadillac would pull away from Polewarczyk, JR. until a caution for Steve “Danger” Dickey would negate the lead on lap 49. Gelinas would fend off Polewarczyk, JR. once more, and set a blistering pace as the duo would put multiple cars a lap down.

Oxford, ME – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team were fresh of a win in the last Pro All Stars Series event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway going into their biggest race of the season. The team had another strong outing in the biggest short track race in the country, the Oxford 250. Doiron lead over 70 laps early on, and was in contention for the win late in the race when with ten laps to go, he suffered an engine issue that he was forced to ride out with, finishing the 250 lap race in 11th place.
“It’s really disappointing to have it finish that way for us,” Doiron said after the race, “We got caught behind a little bit under the long green flag run, but we played the right strategy and I think we would have been on the podium again this year, but it just wasn’t meant to be. I’m still really proud of my team, they did a great job all weekend.”

Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM Racing team have had a very successful 2014 season, one of Shaw’s best to date. One race missing from his resume however, is the prestigious Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway is. This year, Shaw’s team went into the race hoping to bounce back from a disappointing night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway two weeks ago when they had a shock go bad. In the end, Shaw played his pit strategy to be in position for the win late, but couldn’t hold off the teams with fresher tires at the end and ended up with a 12th place effort in the 44 car field.
“We just fought the handle on the car all day for some reason,” Shaw said of the day, “We made our pit stop early to get on a different strategy as the front runners and it almost worked for us, we were there at the end and that’s all we can really ask for, my team did a great job all day and I’m proud of the effort.”

Emily Packard
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt – Instead of spending valuable time at Airborne Park Speedway dialing the car in for the American Canadian Tour International 300 race, Emily Packard and her team spent all of Saturday in the race shop repairing the car from the previous night at Devil’s Bowl. The time paid off, as Packard was able to drive her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car to an overall tenth place finish in a race that saw late model drivers from both ACT and SÉRIE ACT compete for the $25,000 purse.
In practice, Packard and the team focused on getting the car race ready and ensuring that the damages from Friday night were repaired. Taking to the track for the heat, Packard started in the 6th position, and in the 10 laps drove her way to the 4th spot and securing her starting position in the race. This gave her a +2 and earned her a 9th place start in the first segment.
