New Brunswick, Canada – DJ Shaw’s attempt at getting his fourth straight win in the Pro All Stars Series North fell just one spot short last Saturday at Speedway 660. The #60 Precision JLM Racing team took part in one of the most exciting races of the season at the front of the field during the 150 lap feature event en route to a second place finish to Johnny Clark.
“It really stinks to come up that short of four in a row, we wanted this one bad, but that’s how racing goes sometimes and it didn’t all go our way tonight,” Shaw said after the finish, “Next week we will try to get back on that winning streak, overall I’m happy with this run.”

New Brunswick, Canada – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team returned to their best form this past weekend in the sixth race of the Pro All Stars Series North season at Speedway 660. After leading for most of the race, Doiron’s engine started to loose power through the race’s final stages as he nursed his 73 machine home to a third place finish. This is Doiron’s best result of 2014 after a rough start, and he knows this is a sign of things to come from his team.
“It’s tough to give one away like that, I feel like we had the best car here tonight and you don’t get opportunities like that every week,” Doiron said exhaustingly after the race, “We brought our car up to Dale Shaw’s this past weekend we found a few small things that really helped us tonight and I can’t thank my crew enough for all their hard work, this is a sign of things to come, we’ve turned a corner and I’m ready to compete for more wins.”

Capturing her First ACT Pole, Leading the Most Laps and her 2nd Three Star Award
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt – Starting last in the final heat race at Riverside Saturday night, Packard went out and showed them that wasn’t going to be a problem for her. Starting in 7th with her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car, she followed the 27nh to the front. Packard finished comfortably in 3rd place +4, which was enough to secure her the pole for the Central Paving 150 ACT race. “We struggled early in practice, but our times were similar with everyone else,” said Packard, “We got the bottom lane in the heat race and were able to follow the 27 to the front and earn the pole with our +4.”
Starting on the pole was only the beginning of how Packard’s night would unfold. With the drop of the green flag, Packard, fell back to 2nd place, as the 27nh took the lead. However, it didn’t take long for Packard to get in the groove and move her way back around the 27nh for the lead on lap 20, and she just checked out. In one of the fastest run races that ran caution free, Packard found her rhythm early and maintained it for a majority of the race. By lap 50 Packard had almost an entire straightaway advantage over the 4ny, and was putting cars down a lap every lap. “After losing the lead for a few laps, I was able to get it back and lead 115 laps of the race,” Packard said.

Groveton, NH – Kyle Welch of Newport, NH earned his first career American Canadian Tour win at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH on Saturday, June 7. Welch inherited the win after apparent winner Eddie MacDonald was penalized for a post race tech infraction. MacDonald was penalized to the last car on the lead lap in 11th place.
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took the early lead from the outside pole, but was quickly overtaken by Emily Packard on lap 20. Packard would lead the majority of the event, which saw no cautions during its 150 laps. Welch closed the gap on Packard’s lead and took the point with just 15 laps to go.
Welch didn’t hold the lead for long as apparent winner MacDonald got by him to lead the final eight laps of the event. MacDonald was later penalized in post race tech for too many spring rubbers in his right rear spring.

Johnny Clark has been battling for a win all season long on the PASS North Series, as he has had numerous top three finishes, as well as being in contention for the win every time out, but the checkered flag had eluded him until this past Saturday night as he edged out DJ Shaw and Joey Doiron to carry the checkered flag at Speedway 660 in Fredericton, NB, Canada. Shaw, whom was trying to be the first PASS North driver to ever win four races in a row, fell short to Clark’s monumental victory. Ironically, it was Speedway 660 where Johnny Clark scored his last win in 2012.
Numerous early cautions kept the 150 lap event from gaining any rhythm, as Eric St. Gelais and Matt Matheson brought out a pair of early cautions for minor spins. Lap 10 saw Martin Latullipe leading the way, and was solidly out front until Matheson got up high on the backstretch, and flew into the bank just beyond the track exit, flipping his racecar onto its roof. Once they righted the car, Matheson got out on his own power, but was taken to the hospital for observation. Latulippe continues to lead until lap 84 when he went high on the frontstretch and lost the lead to Johnny Clark. At this point of the race Clark had his hands full with veteran Glen Luce as once again Luce was a contender for the win. DJ Shaw, Cassius Clark driving the Rollie MacDonald #13, and Matt Harris were all battling for contention.

Seekonk, MA. – Steven Masse, of Bellingham, Massachusetts passed race leader Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, Massachusetts, on lap 9, and went on to win the Valenti Modified Racing Series sanctioned 100-lap feature race Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, Massachusetts.
Masse’s win, his first of 2014, his first at the famed Seekonk oval,
and his eighth career VMRS victory, moves him to fifth on the all-time Series win list.
