Walpole, NH- The Granite State Pro Stock Series will make the trip to Hudson, NH, for the Gate City Classic at Hudson International Speedway, June 15.
The 2014 Gate City Classic marks the fifth time the GSPSS has taken the asphalt at Hudson, which is a fan favorite on the tour. Close quarters, fender-rubbing racing is the norm at the bullring, which has seen three different winners in the previous four races. Second-place point man in 2012, Bobby Baillargeon, has two victories under his belt at the Speedway, with the two champions of the series, Bobby Cabral (’12) and Mike O’Sullivan (’13), notching victories as well.
Recent feature winner Matt Frahm boasts the best average at Hudson, finishing 3rd in both events he has entered. Frahm trails leader Larry Gelinas by 9 points entering the event, a track that Gelinas owns a 2nd and 9th place finish. Belchertown, MA driver Barry Gray is a model of consistency at Hudson, never finishing outside of the top 10 in all four events with the series.

Groveton, NH – Veteran driver and perennial American Canadian Tour Championship Contender Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH is off to the best start of his ten (10) year ACT career and currently sits atop the standings. This Saturday, June 7, he will look to continue his run of three straight top fives as the tour heads to Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH for the Central Asphalt Paving 150. He will have to fend off the likes of Jimmy Hebert, most recent ACT winner Ray Parent, and a host of others.
One year ago, Polewarczyk marched from his 12th place starting position to lead the final 39 laps of the ACT 150 at Riverside on his way to his second of three straight ACT wins. His three wins on the season helped him earn second in the 2013 final ACT standings. This season his hunger for a title is more apparent than ever. His intensity and focus guided him to second in the season opener at Lee, fourth at Thunder Road and third in the most recent ACT event at Airborne.

Barre, VT – Longtime veteran of Thunder Road stock car racing, Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier earned his 14th career Late Model feature win during FairPoint Communications night on Thursday, June 5. It was the first Thunder Road Thursday night event of 2014. Laquerre held off both Shawn Fleury and Brett Gervais during multiple restarts to claim the win and move into a tie for fourth on the all-time Thunder Road Late Model wins list.
Fleury and Gervais finished second and third respectively in the caution plagued 50-lap event. Dave Pembroke appeared to have the fastest car on the track at one point but couldn’t find room to get to the front after several caution periods near the end of the event. He settled for fourth followed by Brooks Clark. Nick Sweet, Derrick O’Donnell, Josh Demers, Jason Corliss and Kyle Pembroke completed the top ten.

Winchester, NH- The Granite State Pro Stock Series drivers completed 100 laps at Monadnock Speedway Saturday night, but what they did off the track may be more important.
The entire field of drivers in attendance wielded helmets in between local division feature events to raise money for 8 year-old Allen Hinckley, son of veteran Modified racer Les Hinckley. Allen just recently returned from a 17-day stay at Connecticut Children’s Hospital and a recent two-week stay at Boston Children’s Hospital where he underwent his third surgical procedure for a Congenital Arachnoid Cyst.
Arachnoid cysts are rare, and the cause of which are unknown. In Allen’s case, the young boy had surgery to put a shunt and valve system in his head to relieve pressure to his brain. With this unfortunate situation, the family has spent time away from work and a large chunk of time in hospitals, putting a huge strain on the Hinckley family.

Waterbury, VT – There was a big question mark surrounding the beginning of the 2014 season for the dozen weekly tracks and two touring series of the American Canadian Tour. After nearly a decade of racing with the specially designed Goodyear Eagle slicks, a change was mandated at the end of the 2013 season.
“We faced a seemingly daunting task at the end of the 2012 season when Goodyear announced that they were going to discontinue their short track program. ACT was fortunate to negotiate an extra year with Goodyear to allow us to work to find a suitable replacement tire,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour (ACT).
