Emily Packard
Up Next: Thunder Road Weekly and Riverside ACT 150
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – As Thunder Road is about to kick off its 55th season, Emily Packard and the Packard Motorsports crew are ready for the Thursday night weekly challenge. “This is my home track,” said Packard. “Weekly racing is so different than tour racing; only having 50 laps, there is no tire conservation, you just have to go from the drop of the flag.”
This Thursday night is the first weekly event of the season, but the second point’s race towards the track championship. Coming off the 18th place finish on Memorial Day weekend, Packard knows that she has some ground to make up, but is confident that she can do just that. “I can’t get discouraged. It’s a tough track with a lot of good competition,” said Packard. “I think it’s going to be a very intense weekly battle among competitors to make races.”

Jun 4, 2014 | Maine Race Tracks, NEMA, Touring Series News, Wiscasset Speedway
The Northeastern Midget Association will be returning to Maine’s Wiscasset Speedway for the first time in 42 years. NEMA and the NEMA Lites will be part of the three eights-mile “NEMA Night” on Saturday, June 7 at 6:00pm.
NEMA’s last and only visit to Wiscasset was July 1, 1972 when Butch Walsh, in the Connor 58, defeated Jerry Wall and Walt Gale.
“The Wiscasset fans are excited, and the anticipation is growing” said track owners Vanessa and Richard Jordon. “Fan chatter is on the rise and we can’t wait until the 7th gets here.“
NEMA makes a habit of showing up and toppling existing track records, especially on the shorter ovals. The winged warriors are expected to set a blistering pace. Doug Coby’s 13.00 second lap at Evans Mills last week was a perfect example.

Winchester, NH – In a day of highs and lows, 17 year-old Hudson, New Hampshire native Derek Griffith survived a caution-filled 100-lap Granite State Pro Stock event, to come home with a seventh-place finish.
Derek started on the pole for the event and his starting position was quickly negated after the third place car got in to the back of Griffith and turned the No 12 MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing/Tyngsboro Motors Toyota Camry to bring out the first of 12 cautions.

Groveton, NH – Veteran driver and perennial American Canadian Tour Championship Contender Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH is off to the best start of his ten (10) year ACT career and currently sits atop the standings. This Saturday, June 7, he will look to continue his run of three straight top fives as the tour heads to Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH for the Central Asphalt Paving 150. He will have to fend off the likes of Jimmy Hebert, most recent ACT winner Ray Parent, and a host of others.
One year ago, Polewarczyk marched from his 12th place starting position to lead the final 39 laps of the ACT 150 at Riverside on his way to his second of three straight ACT wins. His three wins on the season helped him earn second in the 2013 final ACT standings. This season his hunger for a title is more apparent than ever. His intensity and focus guided him to second in the season opener at Lee, fourth at Thunder Road and third in the most recent ACT event at Airborne.

North Woodstock, NH – In his return since sweeping the weekend his last time out at White Mountain Motorsports Park, Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team finished seventh this past weekend. Fighting his car throughout the event, Doiron ran near the top five all night in the fifth Pro All Stars Series North race of the season. Despite the finish, Doiron is still hungry to be better in the next race.
“We should’ve been a lot better tonight, I’m happy with the finish though and we will keep throwing things at this new car until we hit on something,” Doiron said after the race, “We were lucky to get through the wrecks though and come out of here with a good finish, my focus is now on to next weekend at Speedway 660 to compete for a win.”
