CHARLOTTE, NC (May 6) – Through the first four races of the 2014 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model season, fender-to-fender battles and close finishes have been the order of the day. Daniel Hemric, Roger Lee Newton, and DJ Shaw have all tasted the spoils of victory so far this season, while PASS South contenders like Cole Timm, Tyler Church, and Jared Irvan have just fell short of taking their first checkered flags of the year. But, that all could easily change with Friday night’s Ace’s Wild 150 at Ace Speedway.
The Ace’s Wild 150 marks a return for the PASS South Super Late Models to the Ace Speedway for the first time since 2011. A strong field of contenders will be vying to become the fourth different PASS South winner at Ace Speedway in as many races and join Andy Loden, Ryan Blaney, and Clay Rogers as one of a select few who have managed to tame one of North Carolina’s toughest short tracks.

Walpole, NH- With one race already in the books for the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS), competitors are preparing for a date with Monadnock Speedway May 24.
The ¼ mile bullring is located in Winchester, NH, and has been host to four events in the early life of the GSPSS, and creates tight, door-to-door battles and good, hard racing. Drivers like Barry Gray and Matt Frahm are no stranger to this speedway, as both have picked up wins in the series at this facility.
To say Gray could drive Monadnock Speedway with his eyes closed may not be a huge stretch for the Belchertown, MA driver. Gray has at least 6 championships between Late Models and Pro Stocks at Monadnock, including a New Hampshire State Championship involving the Winchester, NH speedway and Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH. Gray has two wins at Monadnock with the GSPSS, and has finished outside the top 10 once in four starts, boasting an average feature finish of 5.5. The driver of the Meadows Motor Car/ Hawley’s Auto Repair Chevrolet looks to this track to surge forward in the standings. “There’s so many good competitors in this series, it’s going to be tough no matter where we go,” Gray states. “But our chances are better than average at Monadnock, as long as luck is on our side.”

Scarborough, ME – After opening the Pro All Stars Series North season up last weekend with a third place finish, DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM Racing team fought hard for a fourth place effort on Saturday in the second race of the season. Shaw ran in the top ten throughout most of “The Southern Maine Motors 150” at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, but long green flag runs made track position crucial as Shaw fought into the top five late in the race. In the end, Shaw was satisfied with his day.

“We got stuck in traffic for a little bit of this race and the long green flag runs made it hard to pass today with everyone getting strung out early,” Shaw said after the race, “We still had another good car and I’ll take two top fives to start the season, we fought hard with a lot of great drivers today and the competition is really tight every week.”

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Multi-time PASS North Series champion Johnny Clarkof Hallowell, Maine, finished sixth in the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 3.

Then again, if this is bad luck — a fourth and sixth to start the year — I’ll take it. We’re still in the hunt, and that’s what we’ve got to keep doing.
