WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., overcame two flat tires to finish 11th in the ACT Late Model Tour Spring Green 111 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday afternoon, May 22. Dragon started fifth in the 32-car field and was beginning to challenge for the lead when he cut the first of two right rear tires after only a handful of laps. After charging from the back of the back to the Top-10, he was hit with the same misfortune a second time – ultimately settling for 11th, but leaping two spots to fifth in the ACT standings after three events.

Hoar Earns 30th Career ACT Late Model Tour Victory

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Brian Hoar reached a career milestone and checked another box off his bucket list on Sunday afternoon.

Hoar won the ACT Late Model Tour Spring Green 111 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, becoming the first driver in Tour history to win 30 career races by collecting his first-ever Devil’s Bowl victory. Ironically, Hoar led the final 37 laps in his RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge en route to the win.

He had never competed on the track before Sunday.

Valenti Modified Racing Series Ready To Resume At Twin State

Canaan, NH. — Their season started seven weeks ago. Only two races have been contested, the last almost a month ago. The drivers, race teams and officials of the Valenti Modified Racing Series are eager to get back to work and resume the 2011 season and that they will, Saturday night, May 28, at Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH.

A strong field of competitors is expected to enter the Memorial Day weekend program at the famed New Hampshire speedway.

THIRD PLACE FINISH FOR MACDONALD IN IOWA

Eddie MacDonald and the Grimm Racing Team finished third in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Pork ‘Be Inspired’ 175 at Iowa Speedway. For the fifth year in a row, this race pits the best of the East and West Series drivers against each other for bragging rights. MacDonald’s finish is the team’s best this season on the fast seven-eighths of a mile oval. The run catapulted MacDonald into the eighth position in the points race.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr. Finishes 19th In Wild Spring Green Event at Devil’s Bowl

West Haven, VT – Joey Polewarczyk Jr fought an ill-handling car to a disappointing 19th place finish at his first ever trip to the recently paved half-mile speedway.

The ACT Late Model Tour made its Devil’s Bowl debut with a strong 40 Late Models, vying for 32 starting spots. Joey started last (13th) in his Heat Race. “We were once again the fastest during practice and we almost had the car to where it could turn in the center of the corner like I like” Polewarczyk states. “We almost qualified through our Heat Race; we set ourselves up for a good Consolation race starting spot”

During the Consolation race, Polewarczyk came together with another car and knocked the suspension out of tolerance. “We knocked the Toe out which we were able to fix before the main event. We qualified and started in the 23rd starting spot and we really thought we had a contending car” says Polewarczyk

Brian Hoar Earns Second Straight ACT Spring Green Win

West Haven, VT – Seven-time and defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT claimed his second straight Spring Green and his second win of the 2011 season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, May 21. Hoar won a hard fought battle with leader Craig Bushey and later John Donahue to lead the final 36 laps and earn the win. Hoar’s win came in his first event in his new Ford powered ride out of the Rick Paya stables.

Shelburne, VT’s Jamie Fisher and Windham, ME’s Brad Babb swapped the lead early in the event as they sat on the front row after earning +6’s in ACT’s +/- handicap system. Bushey took over from his sixth place starting position on lap seven and would swap the lead with several drivers for the majority of the event including Ricky Rolfe and Fisher before giving up the lead for good to Hoar on lap seventy five and faded to eighth.
