Flat Tire Ends Doiron’s Bid At North Wilkesboro
NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – Bad luck reared its head at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday, collecting Joey Doiron and ending his day early in the PASS South Series “The Race” 300.
A flat tire sent Doiron’s No. 73 JBJ Machine/Rescue Welding/Dale Shaw Race Cars Chevrolet into the wall on Lap 52, relegating Doiron to a 43rd-place finish in the 44-car field.
“I must have ran over something,” said Doiron, of Berwick, Maine. “It felt funny the lap before and then kind of came out of it. But then on the next lap I went into Turn 3 and the car just went straight.

Waterbury, VT – Everybody likes opening days in any sport. The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model teams are no different. It doesn’t matter if you are running for points or not, new teams and veteran teams all look forward to opening a new race season.
The list of entrants for the ACT opening event at the Lee USA Speedway New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 is long and impressive. Upwards of fifteen new teams will experience their first opening day race with ACT in 2011. The returning corps of veteran championship teams is deep and come from a diverse section of northern weekly and touring facilities.

The North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) is in final preparations to start their third full season of competition. Opening day for the exciting tour is slated for April 30 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine. Tour founder Bob Guptill and his officials have been very busy finalizing plans and working on some special promotions and offers.
Texas Roadhouse restaurants of New England have signed on to be the NEMST’s title sponsor for the 2011 season. The grassroots growing efforts of the NEMST match up perfectly with the basic legendary principles of Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse will be offering free entrée passes to all season registered drivers this season. Colorado native takes home the big payday in North Carolina
With 77 drivers making their way to North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) April 7th – 10th to try and win the “THE RACE” Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Parts, only one driver could go home with the $75,000.00 winner’s purse. At the end of 300 laps of competition, Colorado’s Chris Eggleston crossed under the checkered flag first to win the historic event.
“Holy cow! That is my initial thought,” said a happy Eggleston in victory lane. “This deal didn’t come together until two weeks ago. Crew chief Butch Miller gave me a call, said he got a sponsor, and decided to let me come on out and drive. He has never steered me wrong. I am so happy!”

Veteran Racer Goes Back to Victory Lane in Prelude to PASS South Super Late Model 300-Lap Feature
North Wilkesboro NC (4/10) Modifieds made their return to the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) as part of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products “THE RACE” event on Sunday, April 10th. After Jimmy Zacharias dominated the first half of the 100-lap event, veteran Modified driver Junior Miller drove his car to victory lane, taking the win in the prelude race to THE RACE.
Zacharias got the jump on the 11-car field at the drop of the green flag, driving off from the field with Miller working his way to second. A few laps later, John Markovic moved his way to third, then to second with Jason Myers working his way to third. (more…)
