Moulton makes it five straight Late Model wins at Unity Raceway

Unity, Maine – Defending Unity Raceway Late Model champion Frank Moulton of Burnham took another big step toward his third straight championship in the premiere division at Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval Saturday night, posting his fifth straight victory in the 35-lap feature race.

 

Other racers visiting victory lane before one of the season’s best crowds included Brad Bellows (China Village), Chris King (Burnham), Corey Walker (Augusta), Mike Wilson (Chelsea), Justin Moore (Madison), Mika Wilson (Chelsea), Jason Bosworth (Cornville), Ryan Chadwick (Wiscasset) and Dan Snow (Pittston).

Steve Carrier tops Beech Ridge winners, season finale on tap Saturday night.

Scarborough, Maine- Steve Carrier led all 40 laps of the NASCAR Pro Series feature race Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It was the third win of the season for Carrier who jumped into the lead from the outside pole position. Chris Thorne gave early chase but surrendered the second place position to Bill Whorff on lap 3. With Carrier in front and pulling away, the focus turned to the race for second place as Whorff and Thorne were side by side for second and third while Mike Rowe and David Oliver were side by side for fourth and fifth. Carrier cruised home for the win but the race for the all important point positions went to the wire for second through fifth. At the checkered flag Chris Thorne edged Bill Whorff for second as Whorff got third. David Oliver nipped Mike Rowe for fourth shifting Rowe to fifth at the finish.

Frank Moulton wins fourth straight Late Model feature race at Unity Raceway

Unity, ME — Frank Moulton of Burnham is hot in the stretch drive as he seeks his third consecutive Late Model track championship at Unity Raceway. The Burnham driver claimed his fourth consecutive checkered flag in the top class at Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval, extending his point lead in the process.
Vassalboro’s Ed ‘Fubby’ Drake claimed runner-up honors, while Freedom teenager Dylan Turner picked up third-place hardware. Seth Raven of Waldo and Jeff Burgess of Fairfield rounded out the top five.

Super Street point leader Nate Weston of Madison returned to victory lane in the top support class at the third-mile oval. Weston’s closest challenger under the checkered flag was Waterville’s Ricky Burgess, with ‘Cowboy’ Dan Trask racing to the final podium finishing position. Steve Rackliff of Starks and Oakland’s Skip Conner completed the top five rundown.

Speedway 95 8/21/10 – Allen Fletcher Memorial Duel 23’s

Speedway 95 remembered a fallen friend Saturday night, August 21st with the running of the Allen Fletcher Memorial Duel 23’s.

In the first Dysart’s Late Model 23-lap shoot out there were two cautions. The first came at lap six, when three cars spun out, Dave St. Clair of Liberty, Doug Day, Sr. of Glenburn, and Bobby Seger, Jr. of Frankfort. The second caution flag flew at lap twenty, when Joey Doyon of Winterport lost control in turn-four. When the race resumed, Josh St. Clair of Liberty, and Ryan Deane of Winterport traded the top spot until lap 14 when St. Clair pulled away, and held the lead for the remainder of the race. Deane finished second, with Mike Hopkins of Hermon in Third.

In the second 23-lap shoot out, the caution flag only flew once, when Doug Day lost control in lap 15. Josh St. Clair remained strong throughout the night and pulling the lead away from Hermon’s Dale Swoboda after the caution came out, and earned the win in the second shootout as well, his sixth win in a row. “Dale looked like he was getting tight in the center,” said St. Clair in victory lane, “…and I was getting pretty good off the corner, and that crate motor don’t spin much, so it worked out.” Steuben’s Brenton Parritt took the second spot with Swoboda crossing the line for third.

Charlie Colby and Don Colpritt head Beech Ridge feature winners.

Scarborough,Maine-Charlie Colby scored his second NASCAR Pro Series 40 lap feature race win on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Don Colpritt, Randy Snow and Matt Dow were also feature winners. Colby jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and appeared to be headed for an easy win. Scott Moore thought otherwise and moved inside of the leader on lap 20 as Colby hung tough to his outside. Moore led laps 20 thru 23 and Then Colby went back in front of the field. Bill Rodgers arrived on the scene to challenge Colby over the final laps but Colby would take the win by a car length over Rodgers as the checkered flag waved. Moore was third with David Oliver and Bill Whorff Jr fourth and fifth.

Unity, Maine – 20-year-old stock car driver Frank Moulton is getting hot. Moulton, of Burnham, won his third straight Late Model feature race Saturday night at Unity Raceway, extending his lead atop the point standings in the premiere class at the historic Waldo County oval track.
