Hall, Ireland only ones to beat rain

Hall, Ireland only ones to beat rain, lightning;
It's double features for Championship Night next week

OXFORD, Maine – Lightning and impending heavy rain caused postponement of Saturday night's Championship Series event at Oxford Plains Speedway on lap 8 of the Mini Stock feature.

Grover Gundrilling Championship Night will feature the completion of that race, plus the Strictly and Late Model features, followed by regularly scheduled heats and features for all three divisions. The program will begin at the regular time of 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Rain checks may not be used, as we had already completed eight full races.
Prior to the opening skies, Quick Super Cup Series drivers Fred Ireland and Rich Hall won twin 20-lap feature races for the touring division. Hall is a former Mini Cup champion and Macdonald Motors Runnin' Rebel competitor in the Oxford Acceleration Series.

Ballard, Jordan, Burns, Brackett, Heath crowned Acceleration Series champs

Ballard beats Moon in Outlaw tiebreaker for championship;
Jordan rules Rebels after Hewins crash in title tilt

OXFORD, Maine – When Oxford Plains Speedway introduced its Acceleration Series nine seasons ago with a fraction of the cars that make it a speedway staple these days, Mike Ballard was one of the few, hearty souls lined up for the Chimney Tech Outlaw race.

Ballard has won more features than all but one other driver in the division since 1999, rarely missing a race and almost always finishing in the top five or top 10 in the series standings. But he'd never won a championship until Wednesday night.

Perley aces New England Dodge Dealers Maine Classic; Skip Tripp's Strictly Stock streak hits fantastic four

OXFORD, Maine – Chris Perley can swap cars, start in mid-pack, wait out a couple red flags and encounter slower traffic running two or three lanes deep in front of him. This year, and in most every other season with the International Supermodified Association, it just doesn’t matter.
Perley, the vaunted “Rowley Rocket” from the northeastern corridor of Massachusetts, became the all-time winner in ISMA history Saturday night, dominating the New England Dodge Dealers Maine Classic at Oxford Plains Speedway.

 JOHNNY CLARK SWEEPS WEEKEND AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

Turns out Johnny Clark’s win Saturday night in the 50 lap feature for the Clark’s Car Crushing Prostocks was just the warm-up act for Sunday afternoon’s PASS Wiscasset 150. The 2-time defending PASS Super Late Model champ took the lead from Rick Martin and then held off 5-time Wiscasset Prostock champ Scott Chubbuck through the second half to grab yet another win at the track that has produced some of him most memorable victories. Said the Clark in victory lane “We were joking last night that we won the ‘Busch race’, now lets go win the ‘Cup race’” referring to his weekend sweep. Sunday afternoon’s victory, in front of a near capacity crowd, capped off a busy double-header weekend at “Maine’s Center of Speed” including the return of the Pro All Stars Series to the track for the first time in four years. Clark acknowledged the emergence of Chubbuck and the Hight Motorsports team as a force to be reckoned with especially at Wiscasset.

Clavet claims first in Outlaw; Goss breaks through in Rebel; Heath's streak stopped by John Childs on busy night at OPS

OXFORD, Maine – Fred Clavet said his pit crew completely overhauled the motor in his #71 Chimney Tech Outlaw ride after another frustrating run two weeks ago.

Guess it was worth the trouble. Clavet, a rookie in the Acceleration Series, dominated the opening round of three 20-lap Outlaw features Wednesday night for his first career victory at Oxford Plains Speedway.
