(Hermon, Me) The Coca Cola Limited Sportsman Series Championship was settled in a 50-lap feature Saturday July 28th at Maine’s family fun track, Speedway 95
Despite leading every lap in the third and final race of the Coca Cola Limited Sportsman Series and coming home with the win, it was not Bobby Seger, Jr. of Frankfort who grabbed the series Championship, it was fourth place finisher Brenton Parritt of Steuben who had the most points and earned the title. Seger, who is headed off to NASCAR tech school this week did however, end his season with a dominate finish, over Deane Smart of Bradley who took second and Nick Jenkins of Milo who grabbed third from Parritt with two laps to go.

Rolfe edges C. Martin by .001 of a second
in Oxford's second-closest finish ever
OXFORD, Maine – With the exception of an unforgettable ending that was ruled a dead heat between late Sportsman shoes Leland Kangas and Lee Day back in 1981, fans in Oxford Plains Speedway witnessed the closest top-division feature finish in the track's 58-year history Saturday night.
After two multi-time speedway champions swapped the lead seven times in a side-by-side battle that raged for more than 25 laps, Ricky Rolfe edged Carey Martin by one-thousandth of a second and unofficially reclaimed the Oxford Networks Late Model point lead in the process.

It's Brown by a body panel over Verrill in TD Banknorth 250,
ending Maine's 11-race winning streak at OPS summer classic
OXFORD, Maine – In one of the closest TD Banknorth 250 finishes ever, Roger Brown withstood a furious charge by Oxford Plains Speedway weekly competitor Dale Verrill out of the final corner to win the 34th annual short track extravaganza.
Brown, 28, of Lancaster, N.H., led all but one of the final 109 laps on his way to a $35,800 payday.
"It's unbelievable to think of myself on a list with guys like Dave Dion, Mike Rowe and Ralph Nason," said Brown, who groomed his talent in supporting divisions at Riverside Speedway in New Hampshire and Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Vermont before joining the American-Canadian Tour. "I'm sure I don't belong on that list."
No driver from outside Maine had won the OPS summer classic since 1995, when ACT stalwart Dave Whitlock capped a streak of three consecutive wins by Canadian drivers.

Friday night was “Farewell Night” for the St Clair family as they presented the final program in their 18-year tenure at Wiscasset Raceway. The show included double points racing in all six weekly divisions highlighted by a 75 lap Stock Mini main event. Prior to the start of the program, all drivers gathered on the front stretch with their cars and joined track staff and fans to honor David and Sandra St Clair. Track announcer Ken Minott read a tribute article written by Lewiston Sun Journal Sports Editor Kallee Oakes and then the St Clair’s were presented flowers and some of Dave’s favorite cigars. “Boss Hogg” thanked his family and staff members who have helped him run the track throughout the years as well as all the drivers and fans. An enthusiastic cheer came from the crowd when Dave said he would be back next weekend with his Late Model to “really race”. He joked that he was taking all the black flags with him when he left at the end of Friday’s show.
