RPM. What have you been doing in the off season?
Amanda. I took about a month off and then began the process of redoing the race car with help from Shadow Folsom, Ed Gilblair and Zach Audet, to get the car ready for the Augusta civic center show and the Portland Expo. When I’m not working on the race car I am either working or spending time with my 3 children, and also this winter I have made plans to go back to school and get my CNA after helping take care of one of Unity’s pit gate employee’s ( Charlie Lindsey) who fought a short battle with cancer.

Unity, ME — Frank Moulton of Burnham will receive championship honors in the top-tier Late Model division for the third consecutive season, topping the list of champions and other notable local racers to be honored at the annual Unity Raceway Awards Banquet, scheduled for Friday night, November 19 at the VFW in Winslow, Maine.
Moulton’s championship drive included a five-race winning streak that shut all of his rivals out of victory lane throughout the month of August. Third-generation racing teen Dylan Turner of Freedom was tanked third in the season-long contest. Fairfield’s Jeff Burgess was second-best to Moulton in Late Model race victories, and fourth in the final championship standings. Rookie Markus Lowe of Jackson rounded out the top five.

Andy Saunders gets back to winning ways quickly at Unity Raceway’s Long John
Unity, Maine — Andy Saunders of Ellsworth, in just his third race since ending an absence of several years from the cockpit of an oval track racecar, showed the rust was gone with a win in the 33-car, 100-lap Long John Late Model division race at Unity Raceway on Sunday.
Saunders, who quit driving for years to help his daughter’s drag racing efforts, patiently awaited his opportunities – many of which were brought about by one of the event’s many restarts – to get by polesitter and early leader Ed Drake of Vassalboro after an entertaining battle up in front of the field.

Unity, Maine – Skowhegan’s David Folsom I was the biggest winner Saturday at Unity Raceway, while New Sharon’s Zach Audet claimed three first-place trophies on the Fernald Frenzy Fun card, filled with novelty racing events.
Folsom, a competitor in the Late Model division topping the weekly racing programs at the 1/3-mile Waldo County oval, was declared the winner of the 100-lap Enduro race after apparent victor Mickey Landry of Norridgewock was disqualified for multiple technical violations.
Folsom had led much of the first 60 laps or so, swapping the top spot in the early stages of the race with his son, David Folsom II, and Ed Sleeper of Vassalboro, before Landry went by and proceeded to lap the entire field, getting by eventual winner Folsom as the white flag waved.

Unity, Maine – Jeff Burgess of Fairfield won his fourth Late Model feature race of the season Saturday night at Unity Raceway, while an eventful 10th-place run was more than enough for Frank Moulton of Burnham to nail down his third consecutive track championship at the third-mile oval track.
Burgess was stuck deep in the pack as the 23-car field went 23 laps before the caution flag waved, but a rash of yellow fever over the next several laps eliminated many frontrunners from contention for the win, including Jefferson’s Mike Hodgkins, who led most of that race-opening green flag stretch.
