TOP WINNERS RISE TO THE OCCASION SATURDAY NIGHT AT WISCASSET
by Ken Minott.
It was a clear cool evening at Maine’s fastest track and the fans packed in for a full program sponsored by Napa Auto Parts. Group one division were on the schedule with action in N.E. 4-Cyl Prostocks, Thunder 4 Minis, Prostocks, Super Stocks and the Flex race of the week was the North East Pro 4 Tour. While several drivers came close to their pursuit of their first win, it was in fact the top winners that stepped up to claim their place in victory lane. The N.E. 4-Cyl Prostocks rolled out the first feature with #8 Craig Dunn ginning for his 3rd straight feature win. He was flanked by #24 Jeff Prindall and #14 Bob Patten. Dunn took advantage of his rare front row starting position and quickly established a three car length advantage over Prindall. While the lead pair pulled away, positions would shuffle back in the field as Bob Patten slipped to the back. (more…)
Last Saturday at Wiscasset Speedway was a bit cloudy and overcast, but the races were completed before the rain began to fall. With the changing of the seasons, the bright lights illuminating the race track brightened earlier, and the weather cooled for some fabulous racing action. There were some new faces in Victory Lane as well. On the schedule was the group two line up of divisions: Strictly Street, Mini Trucks, Outlaw Mini, and Late Model Sportsman. The flex race of the week was a thirty lap Amsoil Nelcar Legends race.
In a quick, straightforward race, fifteen Strictly Street race cars participated in a twenty lap feature. In the pole position was Corey Morgan of the No. 26. Behind him were the No. 1 of Mike Moody and the No. 5 of Guy Childs. It was not until lap three when the top three saw a leader change. Coming out of turn four Childs attempted to pass Moody on the inside. Childs and Moody scraped together, causing Childs to spin on the front stretch. While Moody recovered, the No. 43 of Ben Erskine moved to the outside and passed Moody on the front stretch. Moody moved to third.

Last Saturday was warm at Wiscasset Speedway, although there was a threat of rain showers. The show slid smoothly along for the race fans gathered to watch, and the rain stayed at bay, giving the racers the chance to compete on the track. Presented Saturday were its group one lineup of divisions: Prostock, Super Stock, New England 4-cylinder Prostock, and Thunder 4. The flex race of the week was a one hundred lap Enduro race, which had over thirty entrants.
First on the track were the New England 4 Cylinder Prostock. This twenty-five lap feature provided a show. Starting in the pole position was Jeff Prindall in the No. 24. Behind him were Craig Dunn in the No. 8 and Dave Patten of the No. 12 Westbrook Dairy Queen car. When the green flag went down, Dunn surged ahead of Prindall on the outside. Prindall fought for position and slid ahead. The pair raced neck and neck around the track until lap two, when Dunn was able to gain a car length lead coming out of turn two.
During lap five, Prindall spun coming out of turn four, and dropped back in the pack. Moving up to take second was Dave Patten, and in third was the No. 54 of Kamren Knowles. Lap nine saw the No. 38 of Ryan Hayes pass Knowles on the inside of turn two for third.
