Narbonne Captures Third Loudon Classic Title

90th_LoudonClassic-mdLOUDON, N.H. (June 15, 2013) – A wicked spill on Lap 3 cost Shane Narbonne an opportunity to defend his Loudon Classic title from 2011. But the native of Tyngsboro, Mass., made sure he wouldn’t make that mistake again, cruising to his third-career Middleweight Grand Prix championship in the 90th annual Loudon Classic.

“It feels good, especially with this being the 90th,” said Narbonne, who also won the title in 2009. “It was a battle for a while there and then I kind of pulled ahead for a while. It got close at the end, but I was comfortable.

“This race is always a challenge with some of the best riders we have going at it.”

FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, is back in the seat for Brad Keselowski Racing at the Battle At Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich., on Saturday, June 15. Theriault made his debut on the flat .438-mile oval last season in the 251-lap main event, finishing 13th in the CRA Super Series sanctioned event. The driver of the BKR No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion is looking forward to continuing his strong run this season in the BKR Fords while competing in one of the biggest races of the first half of the 2013 season. The team practiced and qualified for a 75-lap event at Berlin two weeks ago before the race itself was rained out, but Theriault has not finished outside of the Top-10 in seven consecutive Super Late Model races dating back to last season – including a sixth-place effort at Gresham Motorsports Park in the Southern Super Series Racing Radios 125 in April – and expects to turn in another strong run this weekend.

DSC_1676 story by Chris Roy

This race season, Casey Call from Pembroke, NH has made the move from racing karts and quarter midgets to racing Bandoleros in the Gifford’s Ice Cream Bandolero Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).

The first step for most race car drivers is racing in karts, and according to Casey: “When I was 4 ½, my dad bought me my first Quarter Midget and we started racing it at Route 106 Race Park every weekend. It was a big learning curve for me but I loved every minute of it. In our first year we won seven times and I won the track championship! Since then, I have moved up the karting ranks and have won a total of five Championships between two tracks and was also awarded with Driver of the Year at Twin State Speedway last year!”
