Travis Beale of Hampden took the lead on lap one of the 1st annual Chummy’s Groundhog Special for Little Enduros at Speedway 95 Wednesday night and led all the way in the caution free 50 lap event. Beale was never seriously challenged although Fred Ashmore Jr. of Hancock was closing in on the leader when the checkers came out. Ashmore, who started fifth had worked his way up into the second spot by the half way point, but couldn’t get close enough to Beale to make a serious challenge for the top spot. In post race inspection, Ashmore’s car was disqualified for not meeting the chassis height specifications, so Garett Hayman of Milford was awarded second after dropping as far back as sixth at one point, but working his way back toward the front as the laps progressed. Hermon’s Andrew Crosby finished in third with Beal’s wife, Danielle Beale finishing in fourth. Fifth place was not available as only the first four cars were on the lead lap at the finish. (more…)

NAPLES ME (7/31) It’s no easy deal racing against the Northeast’s Super Late Model super stars. They have the team, the talent and the equipment to take on any speedway’s home town heroes and leave with the checkered flag and the big trophy. But there’s always an exception to any rule, and when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North race teams roll into Seekonk (MA) Speedway for a short track Saturday night the drivers that follow the traveling race show all over the Northeast will be out to even the score.
Seekonk has a talent laden field of Pro Stocks (the forerunner to today’s Super Late Models) and they know every inch of asphalt at the historic short track. They’re hard to beat on their home turf; Tom Scully Jr. and Dave Darling are living proof. They’ve both prevailed over the PASS North regulars at Seekonk. In fact it took three trips to the Action Track of the East before six time PASS North Champion Johnny Clark could break the locals’ strangle hold on victory lane. (more…)
Charlotte, NC 7/30/12-Kyle Grissom was declared the winner of the PASS South Southern Sizzler 150 at the Orange County Speedway Saturday night when rain showers moved in on the 3/8thmile track with just five laps remaining picking up his third series win of 2012. Barre, VT – Northfield’s John Lambert claimed the upset victory in the Bond Auto Tiger Heritage 100-lap special on Sunday, July 29 at Barre’s Thunder Road. Lambert was chased by late-charger Mike Martin and front-runner Scott Coburn who finished second and third respectively.
Side by side racing dominated the first 20 laps of the event, before Coburn finally broke free of the pack to claim the lead. Coburn earned a large advantage over the 29 car field before hitting heavy lap traffic. Lambert capitalized, slicing through the lapped cars and stripping Coburn of the lead on lap 53. Lambert then broke away from Coburn, who had his hands full with ten laps to go with Bond Auto Tiger stars Mike Martin, Brendan Moodie Jr., and former champion Shawn Fleury. Martin dove for a gutsy three-wide maneuver in the closing laps to steal second, but Coburn successfully held off others to come home third. Fleury picked up fourth, and Moodie settled for fifth. Eric Badore, Kyle Pembroke, Jason Corliss, Mike Ziter, and point-leader Jason Allen rounded out the top ten. (more…)
