MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 30, 2013) – Whitney Doucet was the third of 15 contestants to perform the national anthem at Saturday’s Speedway Star singing competition at the Mall of New Hampshire. But her stunning rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” wasn’t forgotten by the judges, who chose the 22-year-old from Fitchburg, Mass., as the overall winner of the fourth annual contest put on by New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Doucet was one of 15 participants from across New England, ranging in age from 13 to 69. They performed in front of a celebrity lineup of judges, including Dan Nelson, director of northeast promotion for RCA Records; legendary NASCAR pit reporter Dick Berggren; and WOKQ 97.5 FM morning wake-up show host Karen Kiley. Mark Ericson, who co-hosts WOKQ’s “Morning Waking Crew with Mark and 2K” show with Kiley, served as the emcee.

JUDGES ANNOUNCED FOR ANNUAL SPEEDWAY STAR COMPETITION

LOUDON, N.H. (March 12, 2013) – Bring on the contestants. New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today that Dan Nelson, director of northeast promotion for RCA Records, will return to serve as the third and final celebrity judge for the annual Speedway Star singing competition on March 30.

Submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, March 13 at 5 p.m.

David McGrath Promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Promotions at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

(Jan. 15, 2013) – Bringing an unmatched passion for motorsports and advertising, David McGrath has been promoted to vice president of marketing and promotions for New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, officially announced the promotion today.

McGrath, 49, joined the speedway in November of 2011 as the director of advertising and promotions. He was recently voted by his peers as the speedway’s Employee of the Year for 2012.

“I’m excited for new challenges and responsibilities,” said McGrath. “This is a great opportunity and I look forward to enhancing the speedway’s marketing efforts.”

LOUDON, N.H. (December 13, 2012) – A sizzling summer slate has gotten even hotter with the announcement of the Whelen Modified Tour and K&N Pro Series East to New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Sprint Cup weekends in 2013.

With its Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series dates already locked in, NASCAR recently unveiled the schedules for the Whelen Modified Tour and K&N Pro Series East. The mods will visit “The Magic Mile” on July 13 and Sept. 20, while the K&N Pro Series East will makes its only trip to the Granite State on Sept. 20.

The 24 Hours of Lemons, a door-to-door, bumper-to-bumper endurance-race series that features cars that cost $500 or less, returns to “The Magic Mile” this weekend (Oct. 26-28). With over 10,000 participants spread across tracks coast to coast, no other event creates bigger, weirder, more hilariously crazy challenges than these weekend-long blowouts of intense and immensely fun competition between cars that are due for the scrapheap.

Proceeds Without Caution: SYLVANIA 300 Provides Big Wins for Non-Profits, SCC

Non-profits, SCC combine to raise over $275,000 in revenue

LOUDON, N.H. (October 5, 2012) – Denny Hamlin left “The Magic Mile” as the winner of the SYLVANIA 300. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and generous contributions of fans, New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s September NASCAR weekend was also a huge victory for local non-profit groups across the Granite State and New England.

More than 50 organizations were represented at the speedway between Sept. 20-23, and with their time and commitment they were able to generate over $201,000 in revenue.
