Cris Michaud Returns To Form, Claims Victory

Billado, Davis Pick Up Feature Wins

Barre, VT – Multi-time champion Cris Michaud of East Montpelier stormed to his 18th feature victory at Thunder Road under the lights on Thursday night’s (June 28) FairPoint Communications event. Michaud had to hold off the blistering pace of young Cody Blake, who claimed the runner up position for his second podium finish in a row. Eric Chase surged late to complete the podium as he grabbed third at the line.

Michaud wasted no time running to the front in the caution free event, stretching out a quarter lap lead while a four car battle for second brewing behind him. Blake finally escaped and gave chase late, and had just arrived at Michaud’s bumper when the checkers flew.

Trampas Demers Steals Thunder Road Win

Pelkey and Switser Claim First Victories

Barre, VT – South Burlington, VT’s Trampas Demers made a return to victory lane in the Late Model Stock Car division on Thursday (June 21) night’s Casella Waste Management event at Barre’s Thunder Road. Demers, who was driving his father’s familiar #86 automobile after a hard wreck in last Sunday’s (June 17) event, had to hold off a hard charging Jamie Fisher and Cody Blake to pick up his first victory of 2012.

Thursday Night Action Returns to Thunder Road

Weekly Racing Begins This Thursday Dave Pembroke’s (44VT) win last Sunday (June 17) put him back in the title hunt heading into this Thursday’s (June 21) Casella Waste Management Night.

Barre, VT – This week Casella Waste Management presents the return of weekly Thursday night (June 21) racing to Barre’s Thunder Road. All three premiere divisions will be in action for a full card of racing under the lights to kick off a summer to remember.

After a sensational start to the season, Barre driver Nick Sweet leads the Late Model point standings heading into Thursday night’s event. Close on his tail is Lt. Governor Phil Scott looking to claim a record fourth Late Model title at Thunder Road. Fresh off his win, defending champion Dave Pembroke and Waterbury’s Brett Wheeler join the group of drivers seeking to dethrone Sweet atop the Late Model standings.

Pembroke Back On Track, Claims Victory

Jason Corliss and Justin Town Collect Feature Wins

Barre, VT – Middlesex, VT’s David Pembroke bolstered his title defense with a high-flying victory on a beautiful Sunday (June 17) afternoon at Thunder Road. Pembroke nipped South Barre’s Mike Bailey at the line by just .021 seconds to claim his first feature victory of 2012.

The early stages of the race were led by Winooski driver Jerry Lesage until an early caution brought the field back to his bumper. Bailey snatched the lead on the restart and was driving away when a devastating wreck took the car of Trampas Demers. Pembroke and Bailey dueled side by side for the final 17 laps of the 50 lap race. Defending champion Pembroke pulled ahead in the final moments in the outside groove to take the checkered flag. Pembroke was ecstatic to be back in victory lane.

Kid’s Night Approaches at Thunder Road

Kid’s Rides and More Slated for Harvest Equipment Night

Barre, VT – On Sunday, June 17, Barre’s Thunder Road will celebrate Harvest Equipment night with door to door racing from the Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks with a special twist.

The stars and cars of Thunder Road will be in attendance early to give kids free rides around the high banks starting at 1:15pm. Also, all Scouts and Little League participants in uniform, as well as participants in the Race to Read program who have shown progress on their reading lists, will get into the show for free. There will also be Kid’s Trike Races for ages 3-4 and 5-6 during intermission. It will surely be a night to remember for young race fans.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road’s point leaders have never had it easy, but 2012 may bring more sleepless nights than ever for the three divisions’ top talent. As it sits, the largest gap between first and second in season standings across all divisions at Thunder Road is a stunning one point, leaving point leaders nerve-wracked as the season continues this Sunday (June 17) at twilight.
