DJ Shaw Opens PASS North Season with a Third Place Run at Oxford

Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM Racing team started their season off strong two weeks ago with a big win down south in the “Easter Bunny 150” at Hickory Motor Speedway and were able to follow that up with a strong run in the Pro All Stars Series North season opener this past weekend. Shaw fought up front all day and came home with a hard earned third place finish at Oxford Plains Speedway. The race was delayed a day and took the duration of Sunday to run due to constant rain in the area.

“I have to thank PASS and the Oxford Plains staff for doing what they could to get this race in tonight, I think we had a car to win,” Shaw said after the race, “We were just riding for most of that race waiting for the end but we couldn’t get the right moves through traffic, but we had a great car and I’m happy to bring it home in third to start the season.”

DJ Shaw Competing in Prestigious Snowball Derby This Weekend

DJ1Center Conway, NH – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM team will be racing in the Sunshine State of Florida this weekend in one of the biggest Super Late Model races in the country, the Snowball Derby.  The Snowball Derby is a 300-lap race held annually at the half-mile Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The race has been contested every year since 1968 and is always run on the first weekend in December.  Some of the best short track drivers travel to this event each year, with 65 entries filed for this year’s event.  Past winners include Darrell Waltrip, Kyle Busch and last year’s winner Erik Jones.  Shaw will be running in both the Snowball Derby on Sunday and the Pro Late Model Snowflake 100 lap event on Saturday night.

“It’s huge for us, it’s possibly a one-time thing and we want to make sure we are prepared the best we know and hope for the best,” Shaw said earlier this week in an interview on Mainely Motorsports, “We’ve talked to a few guys from up here like Johnny Clark so we kind of know what to expect with tech inspection and the race.”

DJ Shaw Takes Third PASS North Win of the Season at Oxford; Finishes Third in Points

djshaw_headshotOxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM went into the final race of the Pro All Stars Series North season with one goal, win.  After early struggles throughout the day, they did just that, taking the lead with 24 laps to go and holding off a charge from Scott Mulkern to grab his third win of the PASS North season, the most of any driver in the Series.

The day started out rough as Shaw as he only finished sixth in his heat race, not enough to transfer into the Feature race while 48 other cars battled for the 36 starting spots.  He would start on the pole in the consolation race, and drive away with the win.  This gave Shaw a 22nd place starting position for the 150 lap event.  The team felt like they had hit on something though, as they made several adjustments to the car throughout the morning to get it right.

DJ Shaw “Going For The Win” In PASS North Finale

djshaw_headshotNorth Conway, NH – Riding on a streak of five straight top five finishes, DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM team have fought and clawed their way back into the championship race with just one race remaining in the Pro All Stars Series North season.  Shaw sits just seven markers behind Cassius Clark in the title fight.  With the position they are in going into this weekend’s race at Oxford Plains Speedway, he knows going for the win is their only option.

“We’ve got nothing to lose, it’s going to take a lot for us to fall from third in the points so we are going there to win,” Shaw said about this weekend, “If we can do that, then everything else will take care of itself, it’s taken a lot of hard work just to get to this point.”

Shaw worked his way through the field early on and found himself well inside of the top ten.  Many cautions plagued the first 100 laps, but Shaw was able to make his way into seventh before the 100 lap break, giving the team 15 minutes to make adjustments.
