VMRSCanaan, NH. – The Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Scarborough, Maine this Saturday night, August 3, and history just may repeat itself.

In seven previous appearances at the famed third-mile oval, Beech Ridge offered up six first-time winners in one way or another. An interesting twist as New England’s premier modified series, chosen the top touring division by Speed 51.com readers, heads up Route 95 to do battle in a 100-lap green flag feature race.

Buxton, Maine veteran David Pinkham scored his first VMRS series win driving the Gary Casella #25 for the first time. The year after saw Dale Evonsion win his first and only VMRS race beating Pinkham to the checkers.

Scarborough, ME – Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by Newcastle’s Charlie Colby. With the win, Colby becomes the Pro Series’ second repeat winner in the 2013 season.

At the drop of the green, Durham’s Evan Beaulieu lead the 20-car field to the green flag, but surrendered the lead to Mike Maietta, Jr., of South Portland, the following lap. Maietta led until lap five when Colby was able to gain momentum going into the corner and pass Maietta for the lead.

Colby led until lap eleven when a caution bunched the field back together. On the restart, Colby chose the outside lane choice and it proved successful as he was able to maintain the lead over Maietta.

At the halfway mark, 18-year old Tyler King, of Livermore and veteran Steve Carrier, of Saco were able to safely maneuver their way inside the top-five after starting mid-pack in the field. It was not enough to catch Colby, as he maintained his lead throughout the race to claim his second victory of the 2013 season.

Beech RidgeScarborough, ME- Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by veteran Mike Rowe, of Turner.

At the drop of the green, Jeff Fagan, of Waltham, MA, paced the 19-car field to the green flag and led the race until a caution on lap two bunched the 19-car field back together. On the restart, Saco’s Steve Carrier gained an advantage going into the corner and safely passed Fagan for the lead.

Carrier led until a caution flew at the halfway mark. The caution was helpful for Rowe who started 12th and worked his way into the top three by lap 20.

On the restart, Carrier chose the outside lane, which was unsuccessful as Rowe was able to maneuver his way by him for the lead from the inside rail. Rowe then opened up a multiple car length advantage and never looked back. He led the remaining 15 laps on his way to his second victory of the season.
