Beech Ridge Motor Speedway closes out 62nd season with crowning of champions.

Portland,Maine- Dan McKeage, Chris Smith, David Vaughn and Matt Dow were the guests of honor at the 62nd annual presentation of awards at the Holiday Inn by the bay in Portland Maine Saturday night. The awards ceremony closed out the 2010 NASCAR Whelan All American Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in front of a capacity crowd in the banquet room.

David Oliver, Russ Morse, Dan Bean & Natasha Dyer score wins

Scarborough,Maine-The final night of the racing season saw some of the division championships settled on the final lap as Beech Ridge Motor Speedway closed the curtain on the 2010 NASCAR Whelan All American Series. The NASCAR Pro Series division entered the night with Dan McKeage holding an 11 point lead over Mike Rowe and a 16 point lead over David Oliver. Charlie Colby blasted into the lead at the drop of the green flag and checked out on the field. A caution flag on lap 6 came out as a result of point leader Dan McKeage exploding a tire in turn 2. Colby went back to the lead and easily held the top spot until another caution flag waved on lap 23.
Colby went back in front but David Oliver was working the bottom as Bill Rodgers and Mike Rowe race side by side behind the leaders. Lap 32 Oliver took the lead but Colby came back on lap 38 with just 2 laps remaining. Oliver charged back in front on the white flag lap and got to the finish line 3 feet in front of Colby for the win. Rodgers was third and Rowe was fourth with Mike Landry in fifth. Dan McKeage finished seventh to claim the title by just 2 points over Oliver.

Steve Carrier tops Beech Ridge winners, season finale on tap Saturday night.

Scarborough, Maine- Steve Carrier led all 40 laps of the NASCAR Pro Series feature race Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It was the third win of the season for Carrier who jumped into the lead from the outside pole position. Chris Thorne gave early chase but surrendered the second place position to Bill Whorff on lap 3. With Carrier in front and pulling away, the focus turned to the race for second place as Whorff and Thorne were side by side for second and third while Mike Rowe and David Oliver were side by side for fourth and fifth. Carrier cruised home for the win but the race for the all important point positions went to the wire for second through fifth. At the checkered flag Chris Thorne edged Bill Whorff for second as Whorff got third. David Oliver nipped Mike Rowe for fourth shifting Rowe to fifth at the finish.

Charlie Colby and Don Colpritt head Beech Ridge feature winners.

Scarborough,Maine-Charlie Colby scored his second NASCAR Pro Series 40 lap feature race win on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Don Colpritt, Randy Snow and Matt Dow were also feature winners. Colby jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and appeared to be headed for an easy win. Scott Moore thought otherwise and moved inside of the leader on lap 20 as Colby hung tough to his outside. Moore led laps 20 thru 23 and Then Colby went back in front of the field. Bill Rodgers arrived on the scene to challenge Colby over the final laps but Colby would take the win by a car length over Rodgers as the checkered flag waved. Moore was third with David Oliver and Bill Whorff Jr fourth and fifth.

David Oliver and Jason Larrabee headline Beech Ridge winners

Scarborough,Maine- Some of the best racing in it’s history continues to be displayed at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Saturday night was a continuation of that as David Oliver, Jason Larrabee, Brian Caswell and Ryan Phillips all scored feature race victories. The NASCAR Pro Series 40 lap main event turned out to be a spectacular race as no less than 4 drivers battled for the win. Charlie Colby led the opening 3 laps before giving way to Chris Thorne. Thorne who was looking for his first Beech Ridge win, stayed in front as Scott Moore and David Oliver applied pressure to him.

 

The caution flag waved on lap 24 but on the restart Thorne shot back to the lead with Moore, Oliver and Bill Rodgers all right behind. The final caution on lap 28 set the stage for the dazzling finish as Thorne again went back in front with Oliver second. Thorne stayed in the high groove and Oliver took the low groove and for the next 10 laps ran side by side for the lead with Bill Rodgers and Dan McKeage side by side for third and fourth right behind them. Thorne led lap 38 and Oliver led lap 39 setting the stage for a dash to the checkered flag. Exiting the final turn on the final lap, Thorne didn’t get the grip and Oliver did as he got to the finish line just inches ahead of Thorne for the win. Bill Rodgers nosed out Dan McKeage for third as McKeage extended his point lead with fourth. Mike Rowe took the fifth position.
