Corey Morgan – Gearing Up for 2014 Race Season
story by Chris Roy
Corey Morgan of Lewiston, ME. has spent the off season busy getting ready for the 2014 race season. “Spending time with my kids, building race cars and working. We built a nice Outlaw for Melissa Ferland, got Mitchell a new go kart gave his old one to his sister Grace. I Have also been working to get the new Mustang PRO-Late Model together, and just finished wrapping the Strictly for Wiscasset, also just made a deal to buy back one of the Outlaws I sold so Missy can race the Ladies Division at Oxford on Wednesdays, it’s a nice car that I built for Pat Maloy, and right I have been lettering cars like crazy for the Auburn Mall Show.”
The 2014 race season looks to be a busy with 4 different drivers in the family in 6 different series. “Win races right! Well Missy will be racing the Ladies Division at Oxford on Wednesdays. Mitchell will try a few races Thursday at Oxford in the kart series. I will be racing Fridays at OPS and Saturdays at Wiscasset, then we take Mitchell and Grace to Richmond to race karts on Sundays.”

Oxford Plains Speedway is well represented with early entries as Shane Green, Chris Coolidge, Mark Lundblad Jr., Justin Gibbons, and Adam Polivinen have all thrown their hats into the ring.

Kayla King is now Queen of Richmond Karting Speedway
story by Chris Roy
After a few years of hard work and determination Ms. King is now the 2013 RKS Sportsman Champion, “It’s almost unexplainable! Considering last year I had finished 7th, and now being the champion. I’m glad the work my Dad and I put into the kart during the off season showed this season.”
Though Kayla has taken the checkered flag a number of time this season there is one in particular that means a lot to her, “I would have to say the Mid-summer, Shootout, not only because it was my first win, but the fact that the race was really close and I needed to really think about every move I made, especially the last one giving me the win coming out of turn four on the outside. It was truly something amazing, almost unexplainable! It was not only my first win of the season but my first win at the track, and after that win, many more followed.”
Second Place For Joey Doiron in Final PASS North Points
Oxford, ME – With one remaining in the Pro All Stars Series North season, Joey Doiron and the 73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team was right in the thick of the championship battle. After relinquishing the top spot in the last race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Doiron sat just three points behind Cassius Clark going into the final race at Oxford Plains Speedway. The season began with those tow driver duking it out for the victory, and it was only fitting that they do the same to decide the championship.
Oxford had proven to be one of Doiron’s best tracks during the season, with a few runner up finishes going into this race. He would start third in his heat qualifying race that would determine the starting lineup for the 48 Super Late Models that showed up to run in the final event. It didn’t take him long before he was in the lead, and he drove away with the heat win. This gave Doiron the best possible starting spot for a former winner during the season, 11th spot for the 150 feature event.
