PENFOLD PROSTOCK WIN HIGHLIGHTS BUSY PROGRAM AT WISCASSET
Bill Penfold leaned on his famous pink #0 VIP Charter Coaches Chevrolet in Wiscasset’s victory lane and took it all in with a big smile and a handshake from his father Ray. It had been nearly 10 years since the Yarmouth racer had tasted victory at Maine’s fastest track; a place where he had made a name for himself before he embarked on a long career in the Busch North Series and other various Prostock touring series.

NEW ERA BEGINS AT WISCASSET RACEWAY
Saturday July 28th 2007 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Maine’s fastest asphalt oval racetrack. In a pre-race ceremony, outgoing owner David St Clair officially handed over the keys of Wiscasset Raceway to incoming owner Doug White. To show appreciation to the fans and drivers alike, everyone got in the gate for half price packing the grandstands on a warm summer evening for the show sponsored by Ames True Value Supply of Wiscasset.
DOUGLAS AND SHERMAN WINS HIGHLIGHT ST CLAIR?S FAREWELL SHOW AT WISCASSET
Friday night was “Farewell Night” for the St Clair family as they presented the final program in their 18-year tenure at Wiscasset Raceway. The show included double points racing in all six weekly divisions highlighted by a 75 lap Stock Mini main event. Prior to the start of the program, all drivers gathered on the front stretch with their cars and joined track staff and fans to honor David and Sandra St Clair. Track announcer Ken Minott read a tribute article written by Lewiston Sun Journal Sports Editor Kallee Oakes and then the St Clair’s were presented flowers and some of Dave’s favorite cigars. “Boss Hogg” thanked his family and staff members who have helped him run the track throughout the years as well as all the drivers and fans. An enthusiastic cheer came from the crowd when Dave said he would be back next weekend with his Late Model to “really race”. He joked that he was taking all the black flags with him when he left at the end of Friday’s show.

RENY RETURNS TO WISCASSET?S VICTORY LANE
Steve Reny was at the top of his game Saturday night at Wiscasset Raceway. The veteran racer from Boothbay nearly covered the field on his way to victory lane in and exciting 30 lap Late Model feature. Starting 12th, Reny found his stride in the second half of the race weaving his way through traffic and driving around fellow Boothbay driver Peter Oakes with three laps to go to capture his second win of the season. Reny joined point leader Chris Thorne as the only other repeat winner in Wiscasset’s top class. The win capped a full schedule of racing at Maine’s fastest oval in front of another large crowd who enjoyed near perfect mid-summer weather. Other winners included R.J. Austin of Smithfield in the Super Streets; Mike Moody of Bath in the Strictly Streets; Shawn Kimball of Pittston in the Stock Mini’s; Ryan Ripley of Thomaston in the Teen Division; and Cassandra St Clair of Liberty in the Ladies Division. Chris Seavey of Windham took the NELCAR Legend 20 lap feature and the Quirk Super Mini Cup 25 lap feature was won by Fred Ireland of Howland. Wiscasset Raceway returns to action with a special Friday night show July 20th at 7:00pm. The program will feature double point racing in all weekly divisions, highlighted by a 75 Lap Stock Mini main event. The NELCAR Legends will also return as part of the show. The Friday program will also mark the final show at Wiscasset Raceway under the guidance of David & Sandra St Clair.
