Barre, VT – NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Tony Stewart told GWC blogger Travis Barrett at Dover, Delaware last week that he is excited about his upcoming June 25th visit to Thunder Road. Stewart will compete in the CARQUEST Governor’s Cup 150 with 30 of the best Late Model teams of the American Canadian and Thunder Road regulars.

Donald Theetge of Boischatel, QC took home the victory in the Le AIM Quebec 150 in front of a thrilled crowd. Theetge worked his way through traffic from the fifteenth starting position to take the lead on lap 55 from Patrick Hamel. Theetge then had to hold of Hamel, Karl Allard and Patrick Cliche in the later stages of the race.

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that the Ford S347JR crate engine has been approved for competition starting immediately.
For the past eighteen months the engineers from Ford Racing in Dearborn, Michigan have been working in conjunction with ACT motor builders Butler & MacMaster of Hallowell, Maine on the research and development of a Ford crate engine that will be compatible with the GM ZZ4 crate engine.

WATERBURY, VT – The 26th running of the CARQUEST Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 is expected to be viewed by the biggest crowd of the 2009 season and quite possibly the largest crowd in Thunder Road International Speedbowl history. Advanced tickets are currently on sale for the event featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup Star Tony Stewart. There are still plenty of tickets still available.

May 31, 2009 | American Canadian Tour
Montmagny, QC – Jean-Francois Dery of Quebec, QC wins the Red Bear 100 at Autodrome Montmagny after a fierce battle with eventual third place finisher Donald Theetge. Justin Holtom led for the earlier stages of the race before Theetge took over. Theetge and Dery then fought for the lead, rubbing fenders multiple times. Dery held the lead through five late cautions while battling Theetge. Eventual runner-up finisher Trampas Demers got by Theetge in the final laps.

May 25, 2009 | American Canadian Tour
Dave Pembroke of Montpelier, VT takes home the win in the 47th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. Pembroke chased leader Joey Polewarczyk for the first 82 laps before Pole lost control off the top of turn 3. Pole ran the high groove while Pembroke attempted to get by on the inside. Pole broke away from the field while working through lap traffic. After the caution on lap 82 for Pole, Pembroke couldn’t be touched.
