Hermon, Me) The weekend racing at Speedway 95 was fast paced, and low on cautions, but hi in drama, in a race date that included the championship in the three race Sportsman Pro-Stock Series.
Scott Alexander of Orrington and Doug Day from Glenburn earned the inside, and outside pole spots for the start of the third and final 50-lap race in the Sportsman Pro-Stock Series. The pair raced for the top lead until a caution at lap 12. After two attempts to restart the race evenly, the pair was sent to the tail end of the line-up. Ryan Deane of Winterport and Paul White of Corrinna started at the front of the field as a result of the penalty. At the end of the contest, Deane held the top spot to earn the win, and White settled for second. John Phippen, Jr. of Town Hill finished third. When the points were tallied up, Deane had captured the series championship by four points over White.

Steve Reny was at the top of his game Saturday night at Wiscasset Raceway. The veteran racer from Boothbay nearly covered the field on his way to victory lane in and exciting 30 lap Late Model feature. Starting 12th, Reny found his stride in the second half of the race weaving his way through traffic and driving around fellow Boothbay driver Peter Oakes with three laps to go to capture his second win of the season. Reny joined point leader Chris Thorne as the only other repeat winner in Wiscasset’s top class. The win capped a full schedule of racing at Maine’s fastest oval in front of another large crowd who enjoyed near perfect mid-summer weather. Other winners included R.J. Austin of Smithfield in the Super Streets; Mike Moody of Bath in the Strictly Streets; Shawn Kimball of Pittston in the Stock Mini’s; Ryan Ripley of Thomaston in the Teen Division; and Cassandra St Clair of Liberty in the Ladies Division. Chris Seavey of Windham took the NELCAR Legend 20 lap feature and the Quirk Super Mini Cup 25 lap feature was won by Fred Ireland of Howland. Wiscasset Raceway returns to action with a special Friday night show July 20th at 7:00pm. The program will feature double point racing in all weekly divisions, highlighted by a 75 Lap Stock Mini main event. The NELCAR Legends will also return as part of the show. The Friday program will also mark the final show at Wiscasset Raceway under the guidance of David & Sandra St Clair. The St Clair family has owned and operated Wiscasset Raceway since 1990 and will be handing over control to incoming owners Doug and Becky White on July 28th. For more information call the raceway office at (207) 589-4780 or check the website at www.wiscassetraceway.us.

Sessions, Mooney win thrillers; Adams extends
win streak to three in last TD Banknorth 250 tuneup
OXFORD, Maine – Hard to imagine the hottest late model driver in New England extending his winning streak to three heading into the biggest race of the year and getting upstaged.
Travis Adams had plenty of competition from Sumner Sessions and Don Mooney, though, for the spotlight and the headlines in one of the wildest Saturday nights imaginable at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Adams continued his recent custom of roaring up the outside and leaving the competition looking at a blur through their windshields. The reigning Oxford Networks Late Model champion won his third straight 40-lap feature and fifth of the season in 10 tries, matching his full-season win total of 2006.
It's a phenomenal achievement headed into what is essentially the all-star break for New England late models, but for sheer excitement, Adams' win over Don Wentworth and Brad Hammond wasn't even close to the top rung on Hilltop Pools & Spas Night.
