The Granite State Pro Stock Series is set to kick off its second season of competition at the historic Thompson Speedway as part of their Icebreaker weekend. Thompson marks the series’ first event outside the state of New Hampshire, and shows how much the group has grown since the inception in 2011.
Qualifying for the 50 lap main event will be on Saturday, with 10 lap qualifiers, and a consolation race to round out the 24 car field. On Sunday, the competitors of the GSPSS will gather on the midway at 11:30 for a meet and greet autograph session. Their 50 lap feature will roll out onto the 5/8 mile oval at approximately 2:15pm. Ben Lynch is all set for the 2013 American Canadian Tour (ACT) race season opener at Lee Speedway. “The car has been done for a while. We had a great end to last year so there wasn’t much to do this off season. We just worked on the little things we had problems with last year. I’m excited for Lee. I think we should have a great car, and its hopefully going to kick start another great year. It’s one of the closest tracks to us so we end up with a lot of fans there, so I really wanna do well for all of them.”
Though Ben has kept busy in the over the winter monthes, “This off season has been just school and work. I’m still at UNC Charlotte studying Mechanical Engineering. That takes up most of my time. But when I’m not doing school work, I work at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. I give fans rides around race tracks like Charlotte Motor Speedway. It’s a great job and it keeps me behind the wheel of the of race cars all off season.” (more…)
MANCHESTER, Maine – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, makes his third consecutive Dirty Dozen Cup start in a JR Motorsports Late Model this Saturday, April 6, in the Southern National Twin 100s at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C. The 14-year-old Lanpher posted his first career Top-5 last time out in the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet for the team owned by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. In four total starts for JR Motorsports, Lanpher hasn’t finished worse than 12th in the 26-car fields, with finishes of sixth and fifth, respectively, in his last two outings. The Dirty Dozen Cup consists of 12 races – six each at Southern National and Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia.

Packard Joins Search For Bone Marrow Donors Emily Packard Motorsports, ‘Be The Match’ Teaming Up At Berlin Mall
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard and Emily Packard Motorsports will join the Marrow Donor Program at Rutland Regional Medical Center for a bone marrow drive at the Berlin Mall in Berlin, Vt., this Saturday, April 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This marks the second consecutive year that the Emily Packard Motorsports is teaming with program at Rutland Regional, which is associated with the National ‘Be The Match’ marrow donor registry.
“My cousin Alex was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 16 years old,” Packard said, noting the close-to-home nature of the cause. “He’s 20 now, got his transplant and has been eight months cancer-free. Anything we can do to help spread the word, we’re willing to do.”
Together with Berlin Optical Expressions and Berlin Mall, Emily Packard Motorsports is offering community members the chance to be the cure for patients in need of a bone marrow or stem cell transplant this weekend. Registration for potential donors is simple, requiring only paperwork and a cheek swab. No blood is taken at registration.
“These drives are tremendous opportunities to save the life of someone battling leukemia, lymphoma or dozens of other blood diseases,” said Kerry Ellis of the Marrow Donor Program at Rutland Regional Medical Center. “We’re thrilled to partner with Emily Packard Motorsports to help gain visibility for the drive. Emily has a fantastic following in the area, and she understands firsthand the need for awareness about these critical bone marrow drives.” (more…)
Exotic Driving Experience opens doors at NHMS for 2013 season
LOUDON, N.H. (April 2, 2013) – New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials are happy to see the snow melting and the track drying in time for a unique event that will drop the green flag on the 2013 season at the Magic Mile. The Exotic Driving Experience, featuring super-fast supercars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin, will scream into the Granite State April 5-7 in the first of several planned stops through the spring, summer and fall.
The Orlando-based driving class will use the Magic Mile’s 1.6-mile, winding road course, allowing serious thrill-seekers an opportunity to push the limits and feel the acceleration, speed and precise handling of some of the coolest high-performance vehicles in the world. (more…)
