Lynch Joins Série ACT Castrol as Chief Steward

Waterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour officials have announced the hiring of several new officials across the Série ACT Castrol, Thunder Road, and the American Canadian Tour for the 2013 season.

The overhaul is headlined by the hiring of former Kawartha Speedway (ON) manager Derek Lynch as the Chief Steward of the Série ACT Castrol. Lynch started racing with ACT at just 17 years old in the late 1980s, and had won the Oxford 250 before heading to the NASCAR Busch North Series. His career eventually led him to Charlotte, NC, where he worked in fabrication for Darrell Waltrip racing. In 2000, he married Cait Curley, daughter of long-time Thunder Road promoter Tom Curley, and took over management at Kawartha Speedway. He left Kawartha at the end of last season.

Dirty Dozen Cup: Reid Lanpher
Southern Nat’l Motorsports Park Race Report

KENLY, N.C. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, posted his first career Top-5 finish for JR Motorsports on Saturday, March 16, when he finished fifth in the second of two Dirty Dozen Cup 100s at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C. Lanpher, 14, finished sixth in the first 100-lap Late Model Stock event in just his second effort in the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet fielded by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. After qualifying ninth – his best time-trialing effort to date – Lanpher used tire management strategy to gain positions in the second half of the green-to-checkered opening 100-lap race. He finished sixth, one spot behind JRM teammate and reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Motor Mile Speedway champion Josh Berry, for his first career Top-10 finish with the team. Lanpher redrew for the outside pole to start the second 100-lap race, but a tight race car – and another caution-free event – made track position difficult to attain. He settled in to finish a strong fifth.

Dave Farrington has spent the racing off season studying, “I am in my final semester of college at the University of Maine in Orono, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. On the weekends, it’s straight home to work on the race cars.”

The 2013 race season is about to get underway as the race teams get ready for the first green flag of the season. “As of right now, we know we will be going to Lee for the ACT event and then going to Oxford for the PASS event. Depending on the results from those two races may set the rest of schedule for 2013. We have plenty of options with two different cars now to run some weekly events at tracks like Oxford, BRMS, Wiscasset, and maybe a few events at Thompson.”
