Lee, NH – The Laticrete Port City 100 for the Valenti Auto Mall Modified Racing Series took center stage at Lee USA Speedway Friday night, and there was plenty more feature event action on tap due to the rain that interrupted the last NASCAR Whelen All-American Series show a week earlier.
The 100-lap race went caution free well past halfway, with Jon McKennedy (1-5), Chris Pasteryak (6-17), and Rowan Pennink (18-82) leading laps before the real action started. McKennedy got back to the lead on lap 83, but he was knocked out of contention when Tommy Barrett tried to grab the lead.

Steve Moulton of Holden used a late race caution to his advantage as he passed race long leader Shane Tatro of Holden on the restart and led the final 5 laps of the 50 lap Gardner Construction Enterprises Series event for the Maine State Lottery Sportsman Division. Tatro had led from the drop of the green until the caution fell on lap 43. Tatro and Moulton swapped the lead for 2 laps when the caution fell again on lap 45. It was all Moulton from that point on, although he admitted to using a little blocking on the final 2 laps to keep Tatro behind him. Tatro finished second followed by D.J. Moody of Prospect, who was almost a half lap behind the two leaders in third. Fourth went to Kris Matchett of Skowhegan with Gene Wasson of Greenbush in fifth. Only the top three finished the race on the lead lap. Moulton won the event’s qualifying race and started the feature on the pole.
In the evening’s other extended length feature. Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs brought his old Strictly Street car out of mothballs and won the 35 lap Pepsi Bottling Company series event. Seekins took the lead on the 8th circuit and held it through one restart on lap 26 when Alex Berry of Harrington and Shawn Hamel II of Bangor tangled and spun on the front stretch. Seekins was able to hold off points leader Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington on the restart to garner his first win of the season. McLaughlin finished second with Cornville’s Shelby Kimball recovering from an early race spin to finish third. Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton finished fourth after running in the top three most of the race. Fifth went to Duane Dunifer Sr. of Carmel. Kimball won the qualifier for the night, placing her on the pole for the feature.

The Benjamin Motorsports team was at Canaan Fairgrounds this past weekend with high hopes of continuing its strong start of the 2012 season. After being 2nd, 3rd and 3rd on the practice speed charts the team thought they would be in good shape.
The team would start 3rd in its qualifying heat and after a side by side battle with Joey Doiron for six laps Travis would bring the 17 car home with another qualifying win. That would start the Benjamin Motorsports team in the 11th starting spot for the feature. The Pro All Stars Series has a rule that states if you win a race you can never start better than 11th for the main event.

Montmagny, QC – Defending Serie ACT Castrol champion Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC stole the late victory in the Montmagny 200 at Autodrome Montmagny on Sunday, July 1. Laperle had a mirror full of Quebec City’s Jean-Francois Dery and ACT Serie Castrol point leader Donald Theetge when he crossed the finish line to take his first checkered flag of 2012.
Pole-sitter Patrick Boyer snatched the lead early before losing it on lap four to a dominant Patrick Hamel. Hamel held onto the lead until opening day winner Karl Allard surged to the front from eleventh on lap 23. After a lap 48 caution, Theetge out-dueled Allard on the outside lane and grabbed the point. Theetge looked like the car to beat, dominating the next 79 circuits until a caution on lap 118 that brought nearly all the competitors to pit road.
