ONE-TWO PUNCH: Stearns Off To Quick Start
Crazy Horse Racing Driver Has Early Oxford Plains Point Lead

Travis Stearns hasn’t competed in a full season of Late Model competition since his rookie season. Then again, he’s never gotten off to a start like this one, either.

Stearns won the 40-lap Late Model feature at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday night for his first trip to Victory Lane in nearly three years, just two weeks after posting a runner-up finish in the season opener at Oxford. After two races against a full field of nearly 30 Late Models each week in the early going, Stearns is the division point leader.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road’s point leaders have never had it easy, but 2012 may bring more sleepless nights than ever for the three divisions’ top talent. BENJAMIN MOTORSPORTS ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH

The Benjamin Motorsports team headed into this past weekends Speedway 660 race with high hope of another good run since the team has always had a lot of good runs at the track. The team is working hard and is also on a pretty good roll since the team has 5 top 5 finishes in there last 6 races.

In practice the 17 car was running well but needed to be a little better if it was going to run for the win. So the team decided to make a few adjustments going into the qualifying race. In the qualifying race Travis started 5th and finished 3rd but had nothing for the 1st and 2nd place cars so a few more adjustments where made for the feature.

This past Friday night’s racing program at the Lee USA Speedway once again fell victim to inclement weather. Incoming thunderstorms forced the cancelation of the entire program. Jay Laquerre Claims Sherwin-Williams Victory Demers, Kingsbury Score Feature Wins

Barre, VT – Barre’s own Jay Laquerre took the outside lane to victory in the headline Late Model division on Sunday evening (June 10) on Sherwin-Williams night at Thunder Road. Laquerre’s victory was his first since 2001 when he scored his two career victories at the Barre high banks. Jamie “The Hurricane” Fisher made Laquerre work for the win on a late race charge, but settled for second. Cody Blake, former Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet, and multi-time champion Phil Scott rounded out the top five.

Laquerre took the lead and ran away in the first half of the race after a lap three caution for debris before Fisher caught him using the outside lane in lapped traffic over the final 47 green flag laps. Fisher mounted multiple attacks, cruising to Laquerre’s bumper and pulling down on the inside, only to find himself back in second. Laquerre is thankful Fisher had the same handling condition as they battled for the lead.
