Curtis Anderson driver of the number 99 is all set for this weekend’s Mainely Motorsports 400 at Richmond Karting Speedway. “Yes I’m very excited” Curtis commented as the Anderson Race Team, get ready for the race weekend.
With over ten wins this season at RKS in the Sportsman Series, Curtis knows the secret to getting driving into victory lane. “Holding your line staying focused and being patient waiting for the right time and making the right decision.”
Though this weekend’s race is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Curtis like most drivers at RKS prefers racing at night under the light. “I like the night races because I put lights on my kart and it looks really cool.” (more…)
The XXX Series came to a conclusion this past weekend at Richmond Karting Speedway, as Austin Teras took the checkered flag and the 2012 XXX Championship. “It feels awesome, and it’s a great honor to be the 2012 XXX Series champion at RKS!!!”
The Friday nights XXX Series at RKS was a big success, and all the drives seem to prefer racing under the lights. I asked Austin if he noticed a difference in the track and the way the kart performed racing at night, “The kart has more power at night, and is free, but I like it because free is fast!” (more…)

Eight year old Ayden Clark, from Hallowell, ME is racing in the Boxstock Division at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS).
Racing this weekend at RKS, Friday night under the lights, the drivers and pit crews are going to be busy. Though when it comes to racing in the afternoon or under the lights Ayden prefers “Under the lights for sure, my kart seems to handle at night.”
At RKS the teams can race either a Champ kart or a Rocker kart, Ayden is racing a Champ kart which has a fixed frame. Though there is a lot of work that goes into getting the Karts ready for each race Ayden lets his crew chief handle that, “My dad does everything on it, I do better driving it then working on it.” (more…)
This past weekend Austin Teras hit the Trifecta as he won three different races, at 3 different tracks, on three different days. “It was fun and amazing! It was a great opportunity. It was difficult because I raced 3 different karts. It was also very hot! I had to drink a lot of water and Gatorade!”
On Friday night Austin to the checkered flag at Oxford Plains Speedway, Saturday he raced at Thundering Valley where he took home win number 2. Then on Sunday he completed the trifecta with his win at Richmond Karting Speedway. As Austin explains the 3 different race tracks are complete different from one another, “Oxford track is very small and bumpy, Thundering Valley is big and very flat, and Richmond is fast and smooth, These 3 tracks have nothing in common.” (more…)

12 year old Carter Patterson of Belfast, ME is the current point’s leader in the Sr. Sportsman Series at Richmond Karting Speedway. With 5 wins already this season Carter has a firm points lead but fellow driver Joshua Annis, in the 1x isn’t far behind. After every win Carter takes the checkered flag and does a “Polish Victory Lap”, made famous by NASCAR driver Alan Kulwicki. I asked Carter why he like to do his victory lap in the opposite direction he replied, “Because it’s cool!!”
RPM. – Other than racing what are your plans this summer?
Carter – I plan to work and earn money for racing and other fun activities, work out, and play sports with my friends. (more…)
