Teras gets the Karting Trifecta

Story by Chris RoyThis past weekend Austin Teras hit the Trifecta as he won three different races, at 3 different tracks, on three different days. “It was fun and amazing! It was a great opportunity. It was difficult because I raced 3 different karts. It was also very hot! I had to drink a lot of water and Gatorade!”

On Friday night Austin to the checkered flag at Oxford Plains Speedway, Saturday he raced at Thundering Valley where he took home win number 2. Then on Sunday he completed the trifecta with his win at Richmond Karting Speedway. As Austin explains the 3 different race tracks are complete different from one another, “Oxford track is very small and bumpy, Thundering Valley is big and very flat, and Richmond is fast and smooth, These 3 tracks have nothing in common.”

A Fast Lap with Carter Patterson

story by Chris Roy
12 year old Carter Patterson of Belfast, ME is the current point’s leader in the Sr. Sportsman Series at Richmond Karting Speedway. With 5 wins already this season Carter has a firm points lead but fellow driver Joshua Annis, in the 1x isn’t far behind. After every win Carter takes the checkered flag and does a “Polish Victory Lap”, made famous by NASCAR driver Alan Kulwicki. I asked Carter why he like to do his victory lap in the opposite direction he replied, “Because it’s cool!!”

RPM. – Other than racing what are your plans this summer?
Carter – I plan to work and earn money for racing and other fun activities, work out, and play sports with my friends.

This past Memorial Day weekend RKS kicked off its first night race of the season. And if you ask Allison, to which is her favorite, racing during the day or racing under the lights, she will tell you with a big smile “Night Racing, I can’t wait its really fun.”

10 Fast Laps with Kart Driver – Maggie Ferland

Maggie Ferland of Auburn, Maine is doing double duty this season, racing go karts at Richmond Karting Speedway as well as the kart track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

RPM. What do you think of the go-kart track at NHMS?
Maggie. I loved it because of the steep hill & the speed.

RPM. The go kart track at NHMS is unique in the way the track is designed; you have to drive up a hill on the front stretch and down the hill on the back stretch.
Maggie. The track is “Awesome” at NHMS. I wished they had more races on the upper track, the hill was awesome!
