MCLAUGHLIN WINS IKEY DORE MEMORIAL AT 95

Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington wired the Ikey Dore Memorial 50 lap Street Stock event held at Speedway 95 Thursday night, leading all 50 laps and picking up $2250 in the process. The race, which paid $1000.00 to the winner plus an extra $25.00 for each lap led, was marked by seven caution periods, giving the competition several chances to unseat McLaughlin from the top spot. Coming closest was Burnham’s Carl McAlpine, who had three tries but was unable to lead even one lap for the bonus money. Each time they lined up for the green, McLaughlin was able to keep his Camaro out front by the time they reached the scoring line. McAlpine finished in the second spot, with Mac Hannan of Union putting on a late charge to take third. Larry Emerson of Durham, who spent much of the race in the second spot, finished fourth, followed by Bangor’s Shawn Hamel in fifth. The remainder of the finishing order was 6. BEALE FAMILY RACERS BOTH SCORE IN 95 RACING ACTION

BEALE FAMILY RACERS BOTH SCORE IN 95 RACING ACTION

Travis and Danielle Beal of Hampden, a couple racing together on a team headed by Danielle’s father, former Tiger division driver Don DeLuck, each scored a feature win and a second place finish in their respective divisions at Speedway 95 in Wednesday night’s extended length show. Travis scored first in the Little Enduros when he inherited the lead from Darren Durrell on lap 23 of the 25 lap make up feature postponed from last week due to a rain storm halting the action just as qualifying was completed. Durrell seemed to have the race in hand after taking the lead from Carmel’s Ted Ryder on lap 18 when a slower car inadvertently blocked his path. As Durrell tangled with the slower car, Beale slipped past to lead the final two laps to the checkers. Andrew Crosby of Hermon finished in second with Durrell recovering to place third. Zach Audet of Skowhegan and Ted Ryder of Carmel, who initially placed in the top three were both disqualified in post race inspection for illegal tires and wheel tilt. (more…)

Gary Smith claims the PASS Bastille 200 at Lee USA

popular win for the super late model veteran

Naples ME (7/13) Gary Smith didn’t lead a lot of laps in Tuesday night’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North 200 at Lee (NH) USA Speedway but he took the battle to defending series champion Johnny Clark and put his Bud and Rays/Uncle Henry’s ride out front with five to go to score his first Pro All Stars Series win in eleven seasons of trying. Donnie Whitten got by Clark at the checkers for second, and Clark crossed the stripe third.

Early on it was all Joey Pole. Pole grabbed the lead from Matt Frahm at the initial green and the pair took off with defending race winner Mike Rowe in Paul Watts 2x giving chase. That was the order at lap fifty and it stayed that way until the first caution flew at lap 71 for Bryan Cruszek’s wall slapper, ending his solid top ten run.
