(Hermon, Me) Mothers Day marked the official opening day for Speedway 95, in Hermon, with three 50-lap races to kick off the season.
Bobby Seger, Jr. of Frankfort was on fire, literally, to start the Dysart’s ProStock 50-lapper, the first race of the division’s three race series. Before the green flag flew, Seger experienced a fluid leak that caused the flames, which were quickly put out. Pole Sitter Ryan Deane of Winterport battled the defending champion, John Phippen Jr. for the lead, until Phippen ran into trouble, spinning out in turn four. Phippen, believing he had time to avoid the upcoming traffic, got back onto the track at lap 25 in front of the leaders, causing the field to scatter, and drawing out a caution flag. As a result, Phippen fell off the lead lap. Paul White from Corinna took advantage of the chaos to put him self in a position to grab the lead, and the win. Deane took second, with his brother-in-law, Jessie Smith of Bangor in third.

May 14, 2007 | Wiscasset Speedway
Saturday night was a good night for the underdogs at Wiscasset Raceway. In a busy program that included eleven features, it was a handful of first time winners and a veteran racer returning to victory lane for the first time in nearly eight years that stole the show. Boothbay’s Steve Reny continued his strong early season in the Late Model Sportsman division with a win in the 30 lap feature. It was Reny’s first win at his home track since the 2000 season when he picked up 4 wins and finished as runner-up in the Prostock division. Reny started 11th and took advantage of two late race cautions to get to the front. From there he outraced Sidney’s Chris Thorne on a lap 27 restart, passing him on the outside and onto the win. Thorne, who started from the pole position retook the point lead in the division with a heat win and second place finish in the feature. Rookie Kevin Sherman of Wiscasset turned in another impressive top five finish, taking home the third place trophy.

Champion Travis Adams puts on show in Oxford Networks Late Model feature
OXFORD, Maine – Sumner Sessions was simply tired of finishing second.
The veteran driver's string of runner-up finishes to open the 2007 Oxford Plains Speedway season was great for Sessions' point total. Ultimately, though, most drivers in the slam-bang Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock division want to win races and let everything else take care of itself.

OXFORD, Maine – When your last name is Childs, you’re pretty much expected to win early and often in your career at Oxford Plains Speedway.
After a solid rookie campaign in 2006, Mark Childs Jr. didn’t waste much time adding his name to the family roll call in the OPS record book. Childs captured the third and final 30-lap Macdonald Motors Runnin’ Rebel feature in his second start of the season Wednesday night at Oxford Plains Speedway.
While Childs’ conquest was a career first, three drivers remained unbeaten on the young season in the second week of Oxford Acceleration Series competition.
