12 year old Carter Patterson of Belfast, ME is the current point’s leader in the Sr. Sportsman Series at Richmond Karting Speedway. With 5 wins already this season Carter has a firm points lead but fellow driver Joshua Annis, in the 1x isn’t far behind. After every win Carter takes the checkered flag and does a “Polish Victory Lap”, made famous by NASCAR driver Alan Kulwicki. I asked Carter why he like to do his victory lap in the opposite direction he replied, “Because it’s cool!!”
RPM. – Other than racing what are your plans this summer?
Carter – I plan to work and earn money for racing and other fun activities, work out, and play sports with my friends.

Gappens, Polewarczyk Race Youths at Route 106 RacePark
LOUDON, N.H. (July 9, 2012) – Jerry Gappens can’t wait to get the big boys to “The Magic Mile.” But before NASCAR officially rolls into town later this week, New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s executive vice president and general manager tested his driving skills against future NASCAR pilots at Route 106 RacePark in Pembroke, N.H., as Governor John Lynch helped drop the green flag on race week in the Granite State.
With Gov. Lynch serving as the flag official, Gappens, American-Canadian Tour driver Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk of Hudson, N.H. and four local go-kart drivers raced for 10 laps, with Gappens using his self-imposed “Gapper-Jump” to take down the field and win the “Mini LENOX Industrial Tools 301.”

First PASS win for second generation racer – Darveau wires PASS Mod main
Scott Dragon drove by Kelly Moore on lap 113 of Saturday night’s PASS North Southern Maine Motors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and checked out to earn his first career PASS super late model victory. Trevor Sanborn made a successful return to Beech Ridge, finishing second . Kirk Thibeau finished third despite an electrical issue that dropped him back in the field on several occasions. Moore hung on for fourth and Cassius Clark raced home in the fifth position.
It looked like it might be Moore’s night much of the way in a race that was short on cautions and long on great battles throughout the field. Bill Rodgers led the first sixteen laps before Moore took over and the veteran stayed out front for nearly two thirds of the laps. But the torrid pace seemed to take a toll on his ride. DJ Shaw challenged Moore for the first hundred laps until Dragon took up the challenge, making his move on Shaw on a restart. Fifteen laps later the was out front, delivering the first PASS win for the team.
